Chapter 58
(Lily’s POV)
By the time I rushed outside, the shouting had already stopped.
But the sight before me made me freeze at the doorway.
Aunt Lamia was standing in the middle of the compound, arms locked in firm control as she gripped Zion and Dev by their cars like they were toddlers caught in doing something mischievous.
I blinked.
Wait, is this real? Was this really happening?
I rubbed my hands against my sleepy eyes to be sure of what I was seeing.
Zion’s jaw was tight, and Dev’s eyes narrowed but none of them moved from Aunt Lamia’s grip. Their chests just rose and fell with suppressed fury.
“I said not in my home,” she was saying as she snapped, and dragged their heads closer together. “If you two want to fight, take it to the mountains or the forest but not here, and certainly not under roof.”
I couldn’t stop the tiny smile that curled at the edge of my lips.

Dev and Zion were lethal, powerful beasts yet here they were… cowering before Aunt Lamia. This woman was still terrifying, in the most comforting way.
Before I could take another step forward, Aria’s voice pierced the air.
“Lily!” She said excitedly, running across the yard and crashing into me. We tumbled to the ground.
“Oh, how I’ve missed you… I am so sorry for hurting you.” she sobbed into my shoulder.
I hugged her tighter, my own eyes welling up.
“I’ve missed you too, Aria.” I whispered.
Our friends stood beside us… Tobe crouched and gave me a small smile as his hand brushed my shoulder gently, while Dev said nothing, but just nodded like he didn’t trust himself to speak.
Zion stood off to the side, arms crossed, watching everything in silence.
Dinner was quiet.
Aunt Lamia had whipped something up with herbs and spices that made the entire house smell like haven. We sat around the small table; me, Aunt Lamia, Zion, Dev, Tobe, and Aria scooped the food slowly, each of us lost in our thoughts.
Then she looked at Zion.
“Prince Zion, are you spending the night?”

Chapter 58
Zion gave a single, respectful nod. “Yes, ma’am.”
He didn’t look at me when he said it.
My friends exchanged glances, and Aria straightened in her seat.
“We’ll stay too,” she said.
I saw through them- they weren’t just here for me, they were keeping watch on him. Just in case.
After dinner, Aunt Lamia disappeared into her room with a warning to go to bed immediately. The boys sprawled out in the sitting room, while Aria followed me into mine.
We didn’t say much for a while. It was a bit awkward and I decided to use the restroom. When I returned, Aria was standing by the window, arms folded with soft eyes. The moonlight poured through the window, casting long silver shadows across
my room.
I leaned beside her on the ledge, and said the words I have been meaning to say “You didn’t tell me that you both were mates.”
She sighed, her voice barely above a whisper. “I’m truly sorry, Lily. I didn’t mean to keep it from you or hurt you. I just… didn’t know how to say it.”
I turned to her. “Why?”
She closed her eyes “It’s complicated. We first met in the human realm.”
“So what happened? If you both had met each other in the human realm before coming here, then it should’ve been easy right? Why aren’t you both together?…Why are you both hurting when you could just be happy together?” I bombarded her with questions, clearly confused about their situation.
It didn’t make so much sense to me… For all I know, Lucien and Aria are perfect for each other. They are amazing people. So, I don’t understand why the very people who seem to have so much love to give, can’t or won’t be together.
“Or is it the case of cheating?” I almost yelled.
Aria was teary by now. She couldn’t bear it anymore and just screamed “Because we’re enemies!” she said, bursting into
tears.
I blinked. “What do you mean?”
“We’re enemies…” she started slowly “because my mother killed his father.”
