Chapter 66
(Lily’s POV)
The weekend came faster than I expected.
I stood by the window, watching as Zion’s car pulled into the driveway. My heart beat faster, not with excitement this time… but guilt. My fingers twisted the hem of my shirt as I bit the inside of my cheek, the dread crawling up my spine like ice.
I grabbed my bag and stepped outside. He was still in the driver’s seat, hands gripping the wheel tightly, jaw clenched. His gaze was locked ahead like he couldn’t bear to look at the house–or me. I slid into the passenger seat quietly, careful not to slam the door.
“Hi,” I said softly, barely above a whisper.
He didn’t respond. Just started the engine, the low hum of the car filling the heavy silence. It pressed against my chest like a weight.
I glanced at him, then down at my lap. My fingers knotted together. “I’m sorry,” I whispered.
“For what?” His voice was clipped. His eyes remained fixed on the road.
“For being cold to you,” I said, my throat tightening. “That day in school… I wasn’t myself.”
He finally turned his head, just slightly. His eyes weren’t soft like they usually were. They were hurt, and a flicker of anger simmered behind them.
“What happened, Lily? Did I do something?”
“No.”
“Then what is it?” His voice cracked just slightly. “You don’t trust me?”
Tears stung my eyes. My lips parted, but the words tangled in my throat. I wanted to tell him everything about the message, and the hooded figure but the words wouldn’t come. I was scared, not of Zion, but that my life might be in danger.
“I just… can’t talk about it yet.”
He scoffed bitterly, his fingers tapped the wheel before curling into fists. “We’re in a relationship, Lily. We’re not supposed to keep secrets from each other.”
That silence returned thick, and suffocating. I turned away and mumbled the directions to Dev’s house.
He didn’t say another word the entire ride.
When we got to the house, my friends; Dev, Aria and Tobe were standing at the foyer. The second Zion stepped out of the car, Dev gave a mock bow, lips curled in sarcasm.
“What an honor to have the Crown Prince in our humble home.”
Zion walked past him without a glance. His shoulders were stiff, his steps heavy. Dev’s smirk faltered.

Chapter 66
Tobe clapped him on the shoulder, trying to diffuse the tension. “Come on, don’t start.”
“Let’s get this weekend over with.” Aria said excitedly, pushing the door open.
Inside, the house smelled of cinnamon and warm bread. Nayla, the cook, appeared with a tray of food and drinks, but it wasn’t her hands that did the talking–it was everything else.
Her hips swayed in slow, exaggerated arcs, her tight uniform straining against her curves. Her blouse was unbuttoned just enough to draw attention, and her eyes locked on Zion like he was dessert.
“Prince Zion,” she said in a breathy voice, stepping close enough that her perfume invaded the air between us.
She gave a deep bow that exposed her cleavage, holding it a second too long. “I prepared your favorite… well. I asked around.”
Zion remained still, his expression unreadable.
I stared at her, bile rising in my throat. My fists clenched beneath the table as I watched her drape herself around him, voice dripping like honey, eyes hungry. Every exaggerated gesture scraped at something raw inside me, but what I felt more than anything was disgust.
Aria caught my expression, and leaned forward “You’re fired,” she mouthed.
Nayla blinked. “Sorry?”
“You’re fired,” Aria repeated, her voice cold and sharp. “Pack your things and leave this minute.”
“W–what?”
Dev stood up and pulled out his phone without hesitation. “Security.”
“No! Please, no! I didn’t mean-”
“Leave,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper but it was the final blow. Nayla froze.
Two guards arrived within seconds. “You’re all going to pay for this!” she cursed as she was dragged out. No one moved until the silence was restored.
We finally ate.
After the meal, we cleared the table and laid out our books across the living room. Exam prep, but none of us were focused.
Dev kept sneaking glances at Zion, and although Zion didn’t return them. The air between them was electric; charged with a lot of things unsaid.
Eventually, Dev dropped his pen with a clatter and grinned. “Let’s take a break. How about a little training? One of major exams is a beast–duel after all.”
Zion looked up slowly, his jaw tightening. “Fine.”
Tobe groaned. “Here we go.”
We followed Dev to the new training room… It was a wide, high–ceilinged space with polished floors and thick reinforced

glass walls that sparkled under the lights.
“Would be nice to launch this place with royalty,” Dev muttered with a smirk.
Zion didn’t answer, but his shoulders relaxed just a little.
They undressed in silence, each movement purposeful. Then they shifted.
Ragnar exploded from Zion’s frame; massive, obsidian–furred, eyes dark and soulless. Dev’s beast was smaller and agile.
They circled each other, claws clicking against the floor.
Then they lunged.
Snarls and growls ripped through the room; claws slashed, bodies collided. The walls shook. Every movement was precise and feral.
Ragnar knocked Dev back more than once, but Dev’s speed made him a hard target to pin.
Aria’s fingers were curled tightly around her sleeves. Tobe held his breath.
“Wow,” she whispered. “They’re really going at it.”
I couldn’t move as my heart was raced in my throat.
Finally, they began to slow with ragged breaths and heaving chests.
Dev lunged one last time, fangs bared but Ragnar twisted and slammed him into the floor with a brutal thud.
Stillness.
Then the shift.
Both boys stood, sweat–slicked and panting. They stared at each other, not with hate but something like respect.
Dev extended a hand, and Zion took it.
Maybe… just maybe… they could get along.
