Robert just stood there and watched the whole seene as it occurred. It wasn’t until the guy asked for her number that Lily realized what he was there for. This was awkward for her, for she didn’t know how to refuse him politely. Sure she did want a fling, but it wasn’t the right place and time for her then. On top of that, she also realized how Samson had been making faces and signaling something to her for a while.
When she shifted her gaze sideways, she finally noticed that Robert was standing just a few meters away from her. From the looks of it, he had been standing there for a while. In other words, he had been watching as everything happened. Despite this, Lily didn’t sense any hint of jealousy from him. Doesn’t he feel bothered by the fact that someone’s hitting on me? she wondered. A moment later, she smiled back at that man and gave him her number. She wasn’t going to continue using this number anyway, so she didn’t mind giving it to him.
The man took her number and gave her a call. “This is my number. You can call me Mr. Morgan.”
Lily nodded with a firm and tense smile on her face. “Thanks. I’ll note that down.” After getting her number, the man didn’t spend much longer with her. He talked a bit more with her before going back to his seat, which was just one row behind her. Only then did Robert slowly make his way back to his seat.
When he returned, he found Lily scrolling through her phone and ignoring him. He didn’t ask her what happened–he simply went on reading his documents. Meanwhile, the man started texting Lily right after he got back to his seat. He told her the reason he came on this trip and how long he would be staying in Avalon. He even told her where he would be going and the people he would be meeting. Lily didn’t have the slightest interest in all of this, but she pretended to scroll through his messages patiently.
Eventually, the man asked Lily about her plans for the trip. After some hesitation, Lily told him that she was on vacation and didn’t have a concrete plan in mind. She told him that she hadn’t decided on the length of her stay and would leave whenever she pleased.
In response, the man told her that Avalon was a good place for vacation. This was in ant attempt to persuade her to stay, but Lily didn’t reply to that particular message. He texted her again to ask her about the hotel she was staying in. At this point, Lily had lost interest in their conversation–she was looking at the message that Samson sent her.
According to the trip details, the hotel that Samson had booked was by the seaside, and her room would come with a view of the ocean. Lily wasn’t too keen on letting the man know about her hotel, so–she told him that her friend would be picking her up from the airport. After that, she put her phone down and glanced at Robert.
Robert didn’t show any reaction the whole time he was obviously indifferent about what she was doing. Lily felt defeated by that. Even when they were married, Robert didn’t react

when he knew someone was hitting on her, so it was normal that he wouldn’t care now. Since he didn’t love her, he naturally wouldn’t be affected by such things. Yet, this reality always caused Lily some uncase.
It wasn’t as if she hadn’t tried hard for the past year, but Robert was a tough nut to crack. She couldn’t find a way to get close to him at all. If she had made any progress at all, perhaps she would’ve tried to delay the divorce after Robert sked for it. Lily looked outside the window and heaved a sigh before closing her eyes again.
They shared no conversation until the end of the flight. The
passengers start disembarking, but Lily remained in her seat. She wasn’t in a rush, nor did she want to disembark when everyone was scrambling to. It was then that the man came over to her again. He was carrying his laptop bag, and he didn’t seem to notice the people around Lily as he addressed her directly. “I’ll call you when I have time. If we’re close by, I can treat you to a meal. His voice was loud and firm.
“Sure.” Lily forced a smile..
Robert smiled quietly as he stood up. “Let’s go,” he told Samson. Samson looked at Lily in disappointment before taking their stuff and making way for Robert. Lily was the last to leave, and after heading out to the arrival hall, she noticed that the hotel staff was already waiting for her. Upon getting into the car, she started getting a splitting headache, so she leaned back and closed her eyes.
We can’t even bid each other a proper goodbye, huh? Something just has to happen. We didn’t start on the right foot, nor did we enjoy the whole process of the relationship. The ending was even worse. I thought that we might be able to have a pleasant separation after all of that unhappiness, but… Well, I really hoped that Robert would feel something more than just regret when he thinks about me in the future. But now, it seems like even that’s unachievable Lily thought.
