Chapter 9
When I came out, she got on her knees and
gave me lunch.
“Miss, I’m sorry about Chad and Brittany.
“Chad’s in jail, and Brittany can’t leave the
house. She gets mad.”
“Please, let her go. She’s preggers, and I don’t
want anything to happen to my kid.”
As she spoke, she knelt.
I stepped back.
“He did it. I’m not gonna sign any letter. Don’t
come to see me again.”
<
“It was her, so she had to do it. She asked for
- it. Why would I?”
Karen nodded.
“I know. If you can let her go, I’ll do whatever
you want.”
I looked at her and said, “If Brittany leaves me
alone, I won’t do anything to her.”
It was like she had been freed. Karen smiled.
She handed me lunch and ran.
She turned back and yelled, “Miss, I made this
lunch for you. I’m asking for forgiveness.”
I started to throw the lunch in the trash.
I went to a friend who tested foods.
They did the test and I was shocked.
The food had an overdose of cyanide.
I called the cops right away.
