On the eve of the wedding, my fiancé married my sister
Chapter 1
Three months before my wedding, my fiancé
posted a picture on Instagram of his and my
adoptive sister’s marriage certificate. And a
photo shoot of her showing off her baby
bump.
The caption read:
“Legally welcoming our little one into the
world.”
My adoptive sister commented with a little
blushing emoji.
My mom liked it and commented, “I’ll take
<
care of the baby when it’s born, so you two
can enjoy your lives.”
I couldn’t help myself. I commented a
question mark. The next second, I was getting
a whole bunch of angry texts from my fiancé.
“She’s only marrying me for a year, okay?
After the baby’s born, I’m all yours again.”
“Don’t be so petty. My mom even said she
wants you to have a son before we get
officially married. So it works out perfectly!
We can have the wedding first, then the
paperwork later. Great, right?”
I just texted back “okay” and then deleted
every single photo of him off my Insta. After
that, I posted something new.
く
“Looking for a groom. Anyone wanna marry
me?”
Of course, Ryan, my fiancé, was the first to
reply.
“Chloe, are you out of your mind? It’s just a
marriage for a year. Why are you making such
a big deal out of it?”
“You don’t actually think you can make me
jealous with some Instagram post, do you?
Laughable. I’m warning you, don’t start any
drama. And leave Tiffany alone.”
Tiffany, my adoptive sister, followed up right
after Ryan.
Г
“Chloe, he just wants our baby to be born
legally. I’m not trying to steal him from you.
After you and Ryan get married, my kid can
call you ‘Mom‘, too!”
My mom chimed in, telling me I was
ungrateful.
“You get a baby without any of the hard work.
Tiffany is doing you a favor! You should be
thanking her.”
Then came a bunch of comments from Ryan’s
frat–boy friends.
“You and Tiffany are sisters! Whoever Ryan
marries, it’s all family, right? Just give Tiffany
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. You get
Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays!”
L
Everyone was teasing me and laughing.
I just stared at my phone, this building feeling
of hurt and anger welling up in my eyes.
Until it overflowed, dripping down my cheek
and onto the phone screen.
They were the ones doing something wrong.
But they had the nerve to turn around and
blame me.
It was ridiculous.
These people weren’t worth my tears.
I wiped my face and scanned through the
train wreck of comments. Then I saw one that
stood out.
<
It was ITOMI San. I’ll be your
- II.
Sam and I grew up together.
After college, I stayed here, but he went to
study abroad.
He started avoiding me once Ryan and I got
together in college. It’s been a long time since
we talked.
I was still processing it when Sam called.
“Chloe, I’ve liked you for a long time.”
know I always hated your adoptive
ter, so I wouldn’t ever get involved with her.
I don’t have any crazy friends. I’ve been
focusing on my career these past few years,
and I haven’t had any exes.”
As he was talking, I got a notification of a
new file sent to me.
I opened it. It was the transfer of ownership
of all his assets and stocks.
While I was staring at it, Sam said nervously,
“Chloe, this is everything I have to offer. Will
you give me a chance?”
My throat tightened.
