After I died, neither my parents nor my husband went crazy
Chapter 1
Seven months pregnant, and I died on that
operating table.
My own husband cut me open.
They said my little sister, Brittany, needed my
baby’s bone marrow.
Mom and Dad said I owed Brittany a debt,
and my kid was gonna pay it.
Mark, my husband, said we could always have
more kids, but Brittany’s life was on the line.
I bled out, watching from above.
I wanted to see Mark break down, Mom and
Dad drowning in regret.
But they didn’t even flinch when they saw my
body.
Just quietly cremated me and started
<
planning Brittany’s “get well” party.
Then I woke up.
Back when my whole family was pressuring
me for a divorce.
It took me a while to wrap my head around
the fact that I’d been given a second chance.
“Ashley, just sign the papers. It’s Brittany’s
dying wish!”
Mom’s eyes were all red and puffy. “Your
sister doesn’t have much time left.”
She was holding Brittany’s hand, looking
heartbroken.
“You came home and stole Brittany’s
engagement to Mark. You owe her.”
Dad’s face was stern, and his words were like
a warning.
“You’ve been living her life for years. Don’t let
her die with this regret.”
く
I looked down at my very pregnant belly, then
at Mark.
“You want to ditch me and your kid to marry
Brittany?”
“Ashley, Brittany’s really sick. It’s the only
thing she wants.”
He looked annoyed. “The truth is, Brittany and
I were high school sweethearts. If you hadn’t
shown up, I would’ve married her anyway…”
“Don’t pressure Ashley! It’s all my fault. I’m
the one who’s being selfish…”
Brittany started sobbing, throwing herself into
Mark’s arms. “I’m not lucky enough to be
Mom and Dad’s real daughter, or to be with
Mark…”
“Don’t say that, honey! You’re our daughter,
as far as we’re concerned.”
Mom and Dad were a mess, then they turned
on me. “How can you be so heartless? Grant
your sister this one last wish!”
