She struggled fiercely but couldn’t shake off Easton’s grip, so she reluctantly gave in. In the car, she sat as close to the window as possible, wanting to be as far from Easton as she could.
Almost plastering herself against the car window, Ellis occasionally retched, refusing the bottled water he offered her and disdainfully tossing it aside. Easton’s lips pressed into a thin line.
She was the only one who could despise him so openly and righteously.
“Drink some water, it’ll help your stomach,” he said, seeing her dry heave again. He handed her another bottle and gently patted her back to comfort her.
Things had been slightly better, but the moment Easton moved closer, Ellis felt worse.
She took the bottle of water and, in a fit of rage, smashed it against his chest. “I don’t need your help! Stop your pretentious act and back off!”
A little vomiting wasn’t going to kill anyone. Not having been to the hospital yet to confirm she wasn’t pregnant, she was extremely agitated. Couldn’t this scumbag just leave me alone instead of disgustingly crowding

The bottled water weighed 500 ml, and with all her strength, she threw it at him, hitting his arm. Easton grimaced in pain, clutching the struck arm and frowning at her.

He had the nerve to accuse me of being ungrateful? Ellis scoffed disdainfully. Blame her all he wanted; as long as she played dumb, no one could bother her.
She wasn’t worried about him retaliating now because she had noticed something–no matter how she hit him, he never hit back. At most, he would call her uncultured or threaten to warn her.
Unconsciously, she felt a newfound confidence.
The source of this confidence wasn’t clear, but she no longer felt any fear toward Easton, acting on her temper as she pleased.
Glancing at the space between them, until they reached the hospital, Easton didn’t interact with Ellis beside him. His lips remained tightly pressed, his gaze mostly on the scenery passing outside the window, his thoughts drifting. What if, at the hospital, the blood test showed Ellis was pregnant? What then?
Ellis had mentioned wanting children with him a few times, but each time, he had remained silent, unwilling to engage.
Having children was all Ellis’s wishful thinking. He had never considered having children with someone as

It seemed humans inherently feared sharp objects like needles. Ellis glanced at the syringe raised by the nurse, her expression freezing, and she turned her head away in fear, desperately trying to distract herself.
Before using the syringe to draw blood, the nurse soothingly said, “Don’t be afraid, it’s just a little pinch.”
Her attempt to distract herself failed, and the pain of the needle piercing her skin made her shiver. The next moment, everything went dark as a large hand covered her eyes.
Her mind blanked for a few seconds before she realized it was Easton’s hand.

She swung her un–blood–drawn hand, knocking his hand away from her eyes, and then glared at him. angrily, “Stop coming near me, will you? Back off!”
“Til remind you, you’re still my wife, and there might be my child in your belly. Where should I go?” Easton’s brows furrowed slightly. “With your attitude and temper, you wouldn’t even make a decent mother.”
