Chapter 99 Oops, Did I Slap Her?

After marrying Easton, she tried to act cute and ask him to protect her. But he didn’t even acknowledge her. as if silently mocking her for daydreaming. Looking at the two people in front of her, she turned her eyes away, as though seeing something filthy. Unexpectedly, a gaze fell on her, and when she turned her head, she realized it was from that damn scumbag
Easton seemed to be sizing her up, then coldly spoke, “Ellis, leave.”
Do I hear that right? That damn scumbag is telling me to leave? Didn’t he just say that if I didn’t apologize. I didn’t have to leave today?
Ellis blinked in disbelief, then bolted out of there, She’d slapped Victoria, and neither Easton nor Victoria had retaliated. It hat am I waiting for?
Of course, she ran as fast as she could to avoid getting slapped back.
Once Ellis left, Victoria started crying, looking at Easton with teary eyes, Easton, can you please get Ms. Harper to stop being so temperamental? She slapped me today, and it’s fine for me; you didn’t lose face. Bur if she hits someone else, you’ll have to apologize, and that’d be embarrassing!”
Easton felt that apologizing wasn’t even in Ellis’s vocabulary. Her temper this year was especially bad–bad enough that she’d climbed all over him, acting like she could do whatever she wanted, trying to make him comply with her demands.
Thinking about it, Victoria wasn’t the first person Ellis had slapped. The Rivera family had also that Ellis had hit Bree. How had he dealt with Ellis hitting people?

Making Ellis apologize was something she would never do. She’d never lower her head to do that. If he said. a word, she’d angrily give him the cold shoulder and cause a never–ending scene. Speaking of which, had she come to the company to beg me for mercy?
He shouldn’t have told her to leave earlier; he should have insisted that Victoria leave instead, and made her stay. He’d been eagerly waiting for her to beg him, to hear her say how much she regretted her words back at the Civil Affairs Department that day.
“She’s always been like this.” He sat down on the sofa, his gaze lingering on the five clear finger marks on Victoria’s face. “I’ll have my assistant bring an ice pack for your face.”
“She’s more than just reckless; she’s completely inconsiderate,” Victoria sat next to Easton. “Easton, you married her. How much suffering have you been through? If others hear you married a woman like that, they’ll laugh behind your back. I feel sorry for you.”
Victoria described it well–Ellis had become completely self–centered. Easton agreed with the first part of what she said but didn’t pay much attention to the second part, as he was busy dialing his assistant to ask for the ice pack
As he was finishing his request, Victoria spoke again. “Morty told me you’re about to divorce her! Easton, why didn’t you tell me about this important thing sooner?”
Easton was finally divorcing Ellis–something worth celebrating. So, Victoria’s words had a hint complaint, questioning why he hadn’t told her about it earlier.
Her complaint didn’t earn her Easton’s full attention, though. He just glanced at her out of the corner of his
eye.

His gaze was slightly cold, and his lips pressed together in a thin line–a typical sign of displeasure.
“Easton, I…” Victoria quickly tried to change her tone.
“Morty talks too much!” Easton put his phone away, his voice casual but firm as he looked ahead. “With a tongue that loose, I’ll have to silence you sooner or later”
Though his words were spoken lightly, Victoria could tell from his serious tone that he wasn’t joking, and her expression stillened.
After leaving Hudson Group and making sure no one was following her, Ellis finally breathed a sigh of relief. I’d only slapped Victoria, but it wasn’t enough!.
If she had known that the damm scumbag wouldn’t help Victoria, she would’ve slapped him too. That would’ve been satisfying!
On the way home in the taxi, new worries started to weigh on her.
Lois had told her that the damn scumbag had made sure to call every major company at Stonebridge, warning them not to hire her.
It meant she wouldn’t be able to find a job. With my meager savings and the salary and compensation Tate Group is supposed to deposit into my account, how am I supposed to survive?
She closed her eyes, feeling a headache coming on. For now, she’d sleep well tonight and figure out how to solve her problems tomorrow.
However, before she even made it home, she got a call from Tate Group’s finance department.
“Ms. Harper, when I tried transferring money to your account, the page showed an error. The money won’t go through. Can you check what’s going on? Once the issue is resolved, call me back, and I’ll transfer the funds immediately.”
Hearing this, Ellis didn’t even need to think. The damn scumbag had most likely frozen her account–a 99 chance of that happening.
Carly had already gone through this, so why would I be able to escape? If the account was frozen, she couldn’t spend a single penny. Without cash on hand, she would face a serious problem–she might starve to death.
Damn it, I can’t stand that kind of suffering! After thinking it through, Ellis told the taxi driver a new address.
“Alright!” The driver agreed.
The taxi changed direction and headed toward the outskirts of the city.
An hour later, Ellis got out of the taxi and walked up to the security at the manor. “I’m Ellis, the granddaughter–in–law of Mr. Scott, and also Ms. Carly’s adopted daughter. I need to see them.”
