Hearing that, Willow looked at me, asking for
my opinion.
I waved my hand, not wanting to deal with
these people.
They sighed in relief and started sucking up.
“Willow, you should’ve seen Ethan in action.
He didn’t even freak out, even with all of us.”
“Yeah, if Ashley didn’t sneak up from behind,
he wouldn’t have gotten hurt.”
“Yeah! It’s all their fault!”
“I didn’t believe it when they said Ethan liked
Ashley. He’s way too good for her!”
They were just saying whatever they could to
get on her good side, making fun of Chad.
I smiled.
They weren’t great at their jobs, but they
were great at gossiping.
If they didn’t stir things up, none of this
would’ve happened.
Chad looked pissed.
They were saying that his wife had feelings
for me.
He couldn’t handle it.
He glared at Ashley, then looked at me, and
had an idea.
“Willow, you can’t listen to them! I’m a victim
too!”
“Ashley and Ethan used to date, and they’re
still hooking up. It’s just coming out now!”
“Everyone saw it. Ashley looked really worried
when Ethan was getting hurt!”
Willow frowned. “Really?”
Chad, seeing Willow’s face, kept going.
“Yeah, when we were putting Ethan down at
lunch, she even tried to pay for his meal!”
He was smirking, looking at me.
He already screwed things up with me, so he
didn’t care about talking trash.
I didn’t matter much to him.
I was just a student with a little talent.
I got lucky dating Willow.
That’s how I was where I was today.
If he could ruin my relationship with Willow, it
would show that I wasn’t that important to
her.
That way, he could clean up the mess he
made and become a hero for Willow.
Then, he could become friends with Willow
and go even further.
“Are you out of your mind?”

“Chad, do you really think I’m that cheap? I
already blocked Ethan! I don’t have anything
to do with him!”
“I did a lot for you, and you didn’t even
notice! Do you really think that’s me?”
“Everyone here can prove I don’t have

Everyone went silent, not wanting to get
involved.
They didn’t want to offend anyone.
The best thing to do was say nothing.
What if they sided with Chad, but we were
actually happy?
