I laughed, helping Mom head out. Those shiny
things are nothing. Summer could have them,
but would they be worth it?
I knew Richie Rich way better than anyone.
He was an evil dude. Summer wanted to
suffer instead of me? Good, I’d let her.
A month later, Summer and I got married on the same day.
She married Richie Rich, the big shot of this town. I married his crippled uncle, Rich Jr.

On my wedding day, Rich Jr. couldn’t exactly
greet people, so I was all alone for the
ceremony.
Summer, on the other hand, was arm–in–arm
with Richie, being fawned over by all the
guests.
Dad and River were doting over Summer,
beaming with pride. Only Mom watched me
with worry, deeply concerned about my
future.
It took me a while to calm her down and get
her to hide her concerns.
Late at night, all the guests cleared out of the

Rich family mansion.
In the bridal suite, Rich Jr. looked at me
apologetically. “I’m sorry, you didn’t deserve
any of that.”
I smiled, totally unaffected. I grabbed his
wheelchair and wheeled him towards the bed.
“We’re married now. You don’t need to be so
formal.”
Rich Jr. blinked, surprised. “You’re not
disgusted that I’m crippled?”
I shook my head, laughing softly. “If I was, I
wouldn’t have married you.”

That made him smile too.
I bathed him and helped him change clothes.
In the king–sized bed, he took my hand and
we both fell into a dreamless sleep.
After the wedding, Summer and I were both
living at the Rich family mansion.

Compared to Rich Jr. and my polite and
respectful relationship, she and Richie were
like a pair of horny rabbits.
Two months later, Summer announced that
she was pregnant.

Richie and Rich Jr. happened to be out of
town, and Dad and River came over,
practically ecstatic.
If it was a boy, it would be the Rich family’s first grandson, their future heir.
Dad even insisted that Mom stay and take
care of Summer.

The Riches family had more than enough maids. I didn’t want my mom to suffer, so I immediately said, “The housekeeper can take care of Summer. Why would my mom need to stay?”
I hadn’t even finished speaking when River

stormed over to hit me. He started yelling.
“Rainy, you’re a heartless person! I was
drowning when I was a kid and you didn’t
save me! Now Summer needs help, and you selfishly refuse.”
“How could I be related to someone like you?”
I was shocked.
I never understood why he hated me so much.
Now I finally understood the reason.
He thought that I didn’t save him when he was drowning as a kid, and Summer did.

But I was the one who dragged him ashore,
and when I tried to get out of the water I was
pulled downstream.
He woke up to Summer beside him, and he thought she was the one who saved him.
I was a heartless person and a clumsy idiot.
It was a misunderstanding that could have been resolved if he just asked me. I didn’t want to bother explaining it to him again, so I would just let him hate me.
