“So what?” Easton said coldly, a faint sneer on his face. “You really think someone like you could stay married to me for long?”

Well, to be more accurate, with Victoria’s acting skills, it wouldn’t even take constant contact. Just spending a bit more time together would be enough to expose her for the venomous person she truly was. The moment he saw through her would be the moment he walked away,
Her ex–fiance’s mockery echoed in her cars, blending with Ellis’s scor.
Of course–Easton was cold hearted through and through. If he could turn on someone who shared his bed, he wouldn’t hesitate to do the same to her.
The answer she originally wanted didn’t matter anymore. Whether or not Easton had been tempted by Ellis during their engagement wasn’t her concerи now,
Victoria silently cursed Ellis to die a horrible death–and for Easton to suffer a fate a hundred times worse.
She stepped aside and let Easton pass
After leaving the visitation room, Easton clutched the voice recorder, itching to get it to Ellis.
Victoria stayed where she was, watching his hurried silhouette disappear down the hall. Her curse shifted instantly.
Wasn’t the whole point of Easton coming to the detention center just to indirectly explain to Ellis that there was nothing between him and Victoria? Since he couldn’t get the message across himself, he needed Victoria to vouch for him, to clear his
name?
But Easton was being naive. Victoria was a woman too–she knew once a woman started doubting her husband, that suspicion didn’t go away so easily. If he thought a few vague lines from her would fix everything, he was dreaming.
That misunderstanding Ellis had? Victoria had worked hard to plant it.
And now,
out of nowhere, she was glad she had. If she had to fall this far, at least she dragged Ellis and Easton down with her.
Easton, unaware of any of this, left the detention center. His rational side told him not to go to Ellis again, but his emotions. overpowered him.
In the end, emotion won. He let it take the wheel and drove to Ellis’s place.
This time, he didn’t try to see her directly. Instead, he asked the building manager to deliver the voice recorder and a sticky note to her.
When the manager showed up at her door–again–with the same request as last time, Ellis was beyond speechless.
Was this loser completely delusional?
She’d already told him she didn’t care about his cheating. Why did he keep pushing so–called “proof” on her?
Just because he had nothing better to do didn’t mean she was bored too…
Okay, maybe she was a little bored lately. But that didn’t mean she wanted anything to do with her ex–husband.
She muttered the curse over and over while her eyes skimmed the note.
His handwriting was actually pretty nice, but so what? Still didn’t change the fact that he was cursed.
Why the hell would she want to listen to a recording from the guy who’d had someone beat her up?
She touched her cheek and the back of her head, remembering the pain, the hospital bed, the days she’d spent lying there. The anger bubbled right back up. She didn’t even bother playing the recording–just chucked the recorder straight into the
trash.

She was so sick of the bad vibes, she nearly threw her phone out too. She even thought about changing her number.

If it weren’t for the fact that her number was tied to so many accounts–and considering how good he was at digging things up–he’d probably track down her new number no matter what. But if he dared bother her again, she really would go buy a
new one.
She ignored the text, set her phone aside, and went to bed.
She slept all the way into the next morning, but just as she was peacefully lounging in bed, the doorbell started ringing nonstop. From the sound alone, she could tell the person outside was getting impatient.
She didn’t need to guess. Didn’t need to look. Even blindfolded, she knew it had to be her annoying ex. No one else was this persistent.

His obsession with her was full–on harassment now.
If it weren’t for the fact that the ringing was so grating and made her want to punch a wall, she would’ve stayed in bed, unmoving.
But now, she was pissed. Eyes sharp and brows furrowed, she stormed to the door and flung it open.
“You bastard, are you done yet? Even harassment has its limits!”
But before she could finish, she realized it wasn’t her ex–husband standing there–it was th awkward as hell.

He scratched his head. “Ms. Harper, looks like your upstairs neighbor has a leak. I tried calling, but you didn’t pick up, so I had to ring the bell”
Managing the property meant serving all the tenants. If someone upstairs suspected a leak, it was normal to ask the management to get into the downstairs unit and check things out–just to prevent any serious damage.
Thanks to her ex’s constant harassment, Ellis hadn’t been picking up anyone’s calls.
She knew the building manager had tried to call. She just hadn’t answered.
When he explained why he was there, the anger faded from her face, replaced by indifference. She let out a quiet “oh” and stepped aside to let him in, following him through the apartment to see if any water had made it through the ceiling.
The inspection didn’t take long. A few minutes later, he was gone.
