Chapter 354 Upstairs Neighbor from Hell
“Running into you in the elevator was a coincidence. I didn’t come here to see you,” Easton said.
Just last night, he’d been hoping Ellis would hear the recording and finally react the way he wanted. But after thinking it over. he came to the same conclusion as his mother: Victoria’s so–called testimony wouldn’t change anything.
Ellis would probably assume he forced Victoria to lie for him.
Otherwise, she would’ve responded by now–instead of looking at him like this and snapping, ‘Are you done yet?”
He gave up on the idea of convincing her anytime soon that he hadn’t cheated.
Just like his mom said, what he needed to do now was rebuild trust between them.
Ellis stared at her ex, who had absolutely no shame as he spoke those ridiculous words. She barely stopped herself from rolling her eyes.
you didn’t come to see me, then why the hell are you here?
What, did he go to bed early, start sleepwalking, and just accidentally end up in her building?
She gave him a cold laugh, turned around, and stepped back into the elevator, silently daring him to try and follow,
In the back of her mind, she expected him to do just that. That’s what he always did. She braced herself for it, her expression full of irritation.
But to her surprise, he didn’t follow.
In fact, just as the elevator doors began to close, Easton turned and walked away–as if to prove he really hadn’t come to see her.
He was gone, but Ellis didn’t let her guard down. If he dared ring her doorbell again, she’d give him an earful.
But nothing happened. She slept through the night, and by the next day, there was still no sign of him.
Weird. This wasn’t like her ex at all.
Shrugging off the odd feeling. Ellis focused back on job hunting.
The company that interviewed her last week hadn’t followed up, which clearly meant she didn’t make the cut. With no income and bills piling up, she couldn’t afford to wait around, She needed to send more applications–and fast.
Her résumé was decent. After sending out about ten applications, three companies replied almost immediately and scheduled interviews.
And interviews meant leaving the house. Ellis dressed professionally and pulled herself together,

to step into the elevator and see Easton inside–again.
Just like last time, he wasn’t coming up from the lobby. He was coming down from the upper floors.
Right away, a bad feeling hit her.
“You bastard. You didn’t actually buy a place in this building–above me–did you?”
“Congratulations,” Easton said, meeting her eyes with the faintest smile. You guessed right.”
The moment her suspicion was confirmed, Ellis wanted to punch something.
Easton’s been crazy–that’s nothing new.
But now? He’s taken it to a whole new level, actually moving into the floor right above her.
He’s clearly got too much time on his hands, acting like he can’t see how uncomfortable he’s making her.

Easton pressed the door–open button, holding the elevator for her like he was doing her a favor
Ellis didn’t feel thankful–she felt like screaming.

The doors slid shut. Her annoyed face faded from his view, and the tiny smirk on his lips disappeared too–replaced by quiet

Since he couldn’t get her to remarry him anytime soon, living in the same building as Ellis was the next best thing. Like the saying goes–being close gives you the advantage.
Easton disappeared, but Ellis was still fuming.
She couldn’t move out. Her lease wasn’t up yet, and leaving early would break the contract. That meant losing both her rent Jand deposit–money she’d worked hard to earn.
And now her ex was her neighbor. She’d have to see him regularly, like a cloud of bad luck floating past.
Her head throbbed She knew exactly why–Easton was the reason.
For now, she shook it off and focused on her interview, pretending none of it had happened.
On Saturday, Maya showed up with her things and officially moved into Serenity Estate.
It wasn’t her first time staying here–she knew her way around.
Seeing Ellis looking gloomy, she raised a brow. What’s with the look? Did I wake you up too early? You look like you didn’t sleep and now you’re dying”
Ellis shook her head. “It’s not about you or sleep.”
“Then what’s got you looking like that?”
“Just thinking about Easton living upstairs ruins my mood.”
Maya’s jaw dropped. “Your ex is living above you now?”
Ellis saw the shock on her face and nodded, looking for backup. “You think he’s nuts too, right?”
“Absolutely!” Maya didn’t hold back. “How is it even possible for someone to be this shameless”
“I swear, I just wanna blow up the whole floor and chase him out.”
“Well, your ex is loaded.” Maya sighed. “Buying a new place is like buying gum for him.”
She paused, then added half–joking, half–serious, “Hey… you don’t think he’s gonna buy your place next and become your landlord, right?”
