When he hated me most I died Ch 12

Chapter 130

A frown creased Harris’s face as he opened the box

The first thing he pulled out was a halfknitted baby sweater.

We didn’t have any pets, so it was clearly meant for our unborn child

I had just found out I was pregnant when I excitedly bought some yarn and followed an online tutorial to learn how to knit.”

Though it was far from perfect, I had taken great care in knitting a tiny blue butterfly onto the sweater.”

I thought Harris would love it, too.”

Little did I know that my dream would be shattered in less than a month

Harris had already learned about my pregnancy, and his reaction wasn’t too dramatic

He simply clutched the tiny garment in his hand.”

During our previous interactions, he had expressed his anticipation of our love’s fruition.

I wondered how he would feel now that he was seeing it.”

I anxiously awaited his response, but unfortunately, he didn’t show much emotion, just silently holding it before releasing it and folding it neatly.”

He continued flipping through the box, revealing stacks of basketball game tickets.”

His photo was even printed on them.”

He paused for a moment, taking out each ticket and examining it closely

Each one represented a different date and a different competition he had participated in, none of which I had missed.I had never told him this before.”

During college, I had attended many of his matches, watching him in his white and purple number seven jersey, the tallest and most handsome man on the entire court.”

I had a major crush on him back then

That’s why I fell for him so quickly when we reconnected.

Idiot,” Harris scoffed and tossed the ticket stubs aside

I admit, I was pretty stupid; otherwise, I wouldn’t have been fooled by him for so long.”

But Harris was idiot, too

What was this behavior of his, digging up my old crush on him like some kind of detective? Was that supposed to be smart

He continued flipping through, his mocking expression completely disappearing when he came across a letter.”

My heart pounded in my chest, reaching its peak

it was a pink envelope containing a letter, my heartfelt confession from over a decade ago

Holding his breath, he quickly tore it open, his hands trembling uncontrollably

I believe he was remembered, for he loathed the color pink, and I, in stark contrast, gave him a pink letter.”

Alongside Harris, I found myself gazing upon a teenage version of me, penning a letter addressed to him.”

Harris was likely unaware that I had noticed him during my middle school years

Back then, I was a chubby, unremarkable girl showered with parental affection.”

Despite his poverty, he excelled academically.”

His captivating looks had long earned him the admiration of many

Adolescents seldom cared about social standing, and so I, like countless others, fell for his charm

For three years, I harbored a secret affection for him, finally mustering the courage to intercept him on our way home. from school on the day of graduation.”

I handed him the pink love letter and hoped he would consider my feelings

He just chuckled and told me to go away.”

I stubbornly insisted on giving him the letter. He took it with a frown and tossed it into the trash can

He walked away nonchalantly, and as I ran after him, I saw a girl holding his hand

Turns out, he already had a girlfriend.”

The courage I had painstakingly gathered shattered into a million pieces.
