Looking at Ethan holding my arm, a chilling coldness appeared in Brian’s usually gentle
eyes.
“Ashley, is he…” Brian stopped in front of me, confirming Ethan’s identity.
“An annoying person.”
Getting my confirmation, Brian grabbed
Ethan’s arm and twisted it hard. Ethan cried
out in pain and let go of my hand.
He clutched his arm and glared at Brian
angrily.
“Who are you? You have no right to interfere
between Ashley and me!”
“I’m Ashley’s colleague. Seeing an annoying person harassing her, naturally, I had to help.”
Brian stood beside me, looking at Ethan with
disdain.
Ethan looked at me in surprise. “Colleague?
You went back to the Astronomy Research
Institute?”
“You know my family never really liked you
doing this kind of work.”
Because of Brian’s appearance, Ethan
instinctively felt a sense of crisis.
“Whether my family likes it or not has nothing
to do with you. The person you should be
concerned about now is Sarah ”
I had once given up my beloved career for Ethan, and I would never do it again.
Ethan wanted to say something more, but I
got into the car with Brian and left.
“Sorry, I think I should take you out to eat.”
I had originally wanted to invite Brian to my
house for a home–cooked meal, but Ethan
had delayed us for so long that I hadn’t even
started preparing the food.
