Jessica did not hesitate, limping quickly in pursuit. She was determined to catch Rhea and expose her deceit.
However, as she rounded the corner, Rhea was nowhere in sight.
She slowed her pace, scanning her surroundings until she heard voices from a secluded spot–it was Rhea talking.
“Baby, why did you come to see me so late? I’ve been missing you so much, spoke the male. doctor’s voice.
“Don’t you know I’m pregnant now? The Hensleys treat me like a treasure, so there’s always someone following me. If I didn’t say I was coming for a prenatal check–up, when would I have the chance to meet you?” Rhea boasted, her voice dripping with prid
She then took the doctor’s hand and placed it on her belly, teasing, “Aside from me, do you also miss the baby?”
“Of course,” the doctor replied, his hand moving under her clothes as he leaned in for a kiss.
Disgusted yet shocked, Jessica peered around the corner to confirm if this man was the same one. from those scandalous photos she remembered. It was then that she could not hold back any longer.
“Rhea!” Jessica stepped out, her glare icy as she caught the couple off–guard.
Startled, Rhea saw Jessica and panic flashed in her eyes. She quickly pushed the doctor.away. whispering urgently, “Go!”
The doctor, flustered, did not hesitate and hurried away.
Jessica tried to follow him, yelling, “Stop!” but her injured foot slowed her down.
Rhea blocked her path, angrily accusing. “Jessica, are you following me?”
Determined to confront the doctor, Jessica pushed Rhea aside but was grabbed by her.
“Let go of me!” she shouted, frustration mounting as the doctor disappeared from sight and Rheat clung to her.
Jessica managed to shake Rhea off and fixed her with a cold stare, “Who is that man?”
“Do you have the right to ask?” Rhea retorted, now regaining her composure.
“I heard what you two were talking about. Aren’t you afraid I’ll tell Hugh?” Jessica pressed, her
voice firm.
“Oh? W
did we talk about iust now? What do you want to tell Hugh” Rhea feigned ignorance.

“The child in your belly isn’t Hugh’s but that man’s!” Jessica accused, stunned by Rhea’s betrayal.
Rhea’s expression flickered momentarily but she quickly masked it with a mocking smile, “So what? Do you think Hugh will believe you, his ex–girlfriend who cheated on him, or me, his wife?”
Jessica met her gaze without flinching, “He may not believe me, but when you give birth to the child, I will tell your mother–in–law about the child’s paternity. I believe she will do a paternity
test.
Rhea’s smile vanished, replaced by a sharp glare. “Jessica, are you still not giving up? Hugh no longer loves you, you can’t take him away from me!”
“Who said I want to take him away?”
“Then what do you want to do?”
“I want you to tell me, who were the men in those scandalous photos five years ago?”
A cunning smile flickered across Rhea’s face. “You want to know so badly? I won’t tell you,” she taunted.
Jessica’s frustration mounted. “Was it the doctor just now?” she guessed.
Rhea’s sneer deepened. “I already said I won’t tell you. You’ll never know who he is, your innocence can never be washed clean,” she hissed.
“You! Aren’t you afraid I’ll tell Hugh that you betrayed him?” Jessica challenged, her anger rising.
Rhea’s gaze hardened. “Jessica, do you think I could have released those scandalous photos at the wedding alone?”
“What do you mean?” Jessica asked, a sense of dread building within her.
Rhea’s laugh was cold and mocking. “Think about it, why weren’t the Hensleys invited to your and Hugh’s wedding?” she prodded.
The realization hit Jessica hard. Initially, Jane had opposed her relationship with Hugh vehemently and did not want him to marry her.
Somehow, Hugh had managed to convince Jane, but not inviting Hensleys had been Jane’s condition.
It dawned on Jessica that the release of those scandalous photos had been orchestrated with Jane’s consent a plot to ruin her marriage and reputation simultaneously.
Jessica’s fists clenched, her body trembling with the force of her newfound knowledge and betrayal. She had not expected Jane to stoop so low.
Noticing Jessica’s furious expression, Rhea scoffed, “Are you giving up now? Even if you can prove your innocence, you and Hugh can never reconcile!”

Years had passed, and Jessica’s feelings for Hugh had faded, but the injustice still stung deeply.
She fixed her gaze on Rhea, demanding, “Tell me, who is that man?”
Rhea’s impatience was palpable. “Are you still not giving up? No matter how you entangle yourself, Hugh will not accept you back! Do you know how much trouble you brought to him when you were together? Especially your bloody father. Fortunately, he’s dead now, otherwise. you and your father would have been clinging to him all the time. He was really unlucky!”
Jessica’s expression shifted, “How do you know about my father’s death?”
She had managed her father’s illness and subsequent passing entirely on her own. After Hugh decided to halt treatment, they had been left to cope in isolation, with no one reaching out or inquiring further. It was baffling how Rhea could be privy to such personal information.
