Chapter 30 Tomb Robber

Jasper didn’t seem to mind as he looked down at Summer in his arms and said, “The security in our country is a lot better now! How could there be so many bad people around?”
Summer blinked, her eyes scanning the inside of the break room, and suddenly fell silent.
Ah, so what is this?
Just as Summer was about to ask Jasper what was going on in there, a cold glint flashed out of the break room, and a knife flew through the air toward them.
Summer’s expression shifted instantly. Her confused gaze sharpened, turning as keen as an eagle’s.
She reacted fast, pushing against Jasper’s shoulder with one hand, using the force to spring up like a coiled spring. At the same time, she twisted her waist in midair, her back leg kicking hard toward something unseen, and then, with the momentum, she soared through the air in a sharp arc, charging straight toward the knife’s trajectory.
“Summer!”
Jasper’s heart stopped as the knife seemed to be headed right for her. His body froze as a chill surged up from his feet to his head. His mind raced, panic overwhelming him as he screamed, “Summer!”
But Summer, unfazed, wasn’t the least bit scared. With just a slight tilt of her head, the knife. whizzed by, the cold wind of its passing brushing her cheek, only grazing a few strands of her
hair.
She didn’t lose her momentum for a second. Her body, as if fired from a cannon, continued its swift course straight toward the man who had thrown the knife.
With a thud, Summer crashed into the man inside the break room, knocking him to the floor.
But she didn’t stop. She quickly turned to face the woman who had been hiding in the corner of the room.
Just as the woman reached for something, a large hand shot out, grabbing her wrist with incredible force.
A horrible crack echoed through the air as the woman’s wrist was twisted out of place. Her face turned an ashen color, her arm hanging limp at her side.
But her eyes flashed with rage. Without missing a beat, her other hand reached behind her back and drew out another knife, aiming it straight at Jasper’s face.
Jasper, however, was quick on his feet. He sidestepped the attack, his body fluidly shifting as he grabbed the woman’s shoulder and, with one swift motion, threw her over his shoulder.

Summer, watching Jasper’s smooth handling of the situation, clapped her small hands together excitedly. “Uncle, you’re amazing!”
Jasper, still shaken by the events, took a few quick steps forward, his heart still pounding in his chest. He scooped up Summer, his hand landing a couple of light slaps on her backside as he scolded her in a voice full of concern. “What were you doing just now? Throwing yourself knife? Are you trying to get yourself killed? Or are you trying to give me a heart attack?”
Summer rubbed her backside, her eyes filled with confusion and a bit of hurt. She hadn’t been scared at all when the knife flew at her. In her mind, she already calculated its path and knew she wouldn’t get hit.
Pouting slightly, she heard Jasper’s racing heartbeat and realized that he was just worried about her. Sighing, she looked up at him and muttered, “I’m sorry!”
Maybe next time, she wouldn’t push him away. Instead, she’d knock him out first, and then she could save him, right?
Jasper had no idea what Summer was thinking, but when he saw her lower her head, looking like she knew she was in trouble but was going to do the same thing next time anyway, his forehead tightened with frustration.
He raised his hand to deliver another round of scolding, but Summer quickly reacted. She grabbed his arm, pointing to the side, where a large, mutilated form was lying on the floor, wrapped in some cloth. A few skeletal remains and charred bits of flesh were barely visible.
“What’s this?” Summer asked.
Jasper finally recalled what he had seen when he first opened the break room door–a man slowly removing his outer clothing, revealing a body strapped to his back!
Jasper’s head ached as he surveyed the two corpses scattered on the floor. He moved to the side. carefully holding Summer and glancing at the unconscious train attendant. He opened a nearby bundle and took a quick look.
When he saw what was inside, a heavy sigh escaped his lips. Of course, it was a tomb robber.
Authorities had been cracking down on these activities lately, but the market was still lax on enforcement.
Looking at the two bodies, it was likely that this man and woman had already been caught, and they wouldn’t face harsh sentences. But judging by how they fought just now, they probably had blood on their hands. Investigating their actions should be enough to put them away for good.
As Jasper was deep in thought, the train police officer, who had been inspecting the train, came back. When they saw the scene before them, they immediately barked, “Who’s there? Step out!”
