Chapter 2
Jessie waited for a long time in the hallway, but Liam didn’t show up.
Instead, she ran into Alan, who had just come out of the bathroom. He surprisingly looked at her, who was alone, and then led her to the private room.
Inside the room, everyone was chatting and having fun, but there was still an empty seat beside Jessie.
After a while, pretending to be casual, Alan walked over to Jessie and said, “Jessie, Liam suddenly has something urgent in company. I’ll send you home later.”
Jessie smiled gently. “It’s fine. I’ve got work at the studio. I’ll take a cab. Have a good time.”
Not long after stepping outside, she caught a glimpse of the familiar figures.
She quickly followed the two figures to a hidden staircase.
Liam was arguing with the woman in front of him.
“Mr. Foley, what am I to you? What does it matter to you who I drink with?”
Liam slammed his fist into the wall, as if he didn’t even feel the pain.
In the next second, Jessie saw the woman’s face clearly.
It was her.
Jessie tightly clenched her fist, her ears ringing with Liam’s cold but

possessive words.
“Briley, isn’t this what you wanted? Well, here it is!”
After that, Liam bent down abruptly, pressing his lips against Briley Hodges’s mouth. With his other hand, he tightly wrapped around her waist, pulling her closer.
Briley’s eyes were wide open, but her gaze fell on Jessie standing at the door.
Jessie knew. Briley had seen her standing there from the start.
That night, Liam didn’t come home.
He only called to remind Jessie not to forget to drink her milk.
As Jessie thought back, she realized that back then, she hadn’t gone to one party with Liam because of her period.
And that night, Liam hadn’t come home either.
In the middle of the night, her phone suddenly rang.
She numbly pressed the answer button, and before she could react, the familiar, obsessive voice poured out of the receiver.
The man demanded the woman admit that he was the one she loved the most.
The woman’s voice surged with passion.
Jessie wasn’t sure how long she had been listening until the woman on the phone spoke in a coquettish tone to Liam.
“Liam, I don’t want to be the woman who destroys someone else’s family,”

Liam’s movements suddenly froze. After a long pause, he gently sighed and said, “Silly girl, you’re not.
“I just regret that you came too late.”
Jessie’s hand tightly gripped her shirt over her chest. Already aware of the truth, her heart was unexpectedly shattered all over again at that
moment.
Liam had come to the Foley family at the age of thirteen, following his mother.
Because he was a stepson, many people in the community looked down on him and bullied him. But Jessie always stood by him. When they bullied him, she would run to their homes to report their parents, then watch them get punished with Liam.
Then, when Jessie was locked in the equipment room, it was Liam who found her. Knowing she was afraid of the dark and confined spaces, Liam held her tightly in his arms.
He promised Jessie that, from then on, no matter what, he would never let go of her hand and would never lose her.
After the SAT, Jessie discovered that her parents had already divorced but had been keeping it from her.
Devastated, she fled her home, it was Liam who found her again and brought her back to the apartment he had rented outside school.
Jessie still remembered the promise Liam made to her that day.
“No one wants you? I want. No one will take care of you? I will.”
Liam wanted to make her believe him, saying he would never deceive her in this lifetime

She believed him.
But he had broken his word.
Not only that, but Liam had also told her a monstrous lie!
Jessie sat motionless until dawn. When the first ray of sunlight touched her, she rubbed her dry eyes.
She took out her phone and called her mother, who was abroad.
“Mom, I want to leave Liam. Could you help me?”
“What can I do?”
“Help me stage a plane crash.”
That was the way Liam had chosen to ditch her.
She wanted Liam to feel that pain too!
