Chapter 8
Liam’s heart skipped a beat, and he instinctively gripped his phone tighter.
But the next second, he realized what had happened, and a slight smirk curved his lips.
He asked, “What’s it? Did she go running to you?
“I’ve told her, if she doesn’t apologize, I won’t take down those videos. If she has a problem, let her come talk to me directly. That’s it!”
Before his mother could respond, Liam hung up.
“Did Liam say anything? Are we still looking for her?”
Liam’s mother, Hannah Foley, was confused by his words. Her brow furrowed.
She answered, “The plane crashed… It’s going to be hard to find her now. I’ll call Jennifer Norman first. After all, she’s Jessie’s mother. We should follow her advice.”
After hanging up, Liam put the matter of the package out of his mind.
All he could think about was that Jessie would complain to others
now.
But she was so stupid–she knew he’d never listen to Hannah’s advice, yet she still thought using her to threaten him would work?
“Liam, did you hear what I said?”
Briley was shaking Liam’s arm.

Liam frowned instinctively. “I heard you. I’ll make the arrangements for leaving soon.”
The smile on her face froze immediately, her eyes wide with confusion. “What did you just say?”
Seeing her stunned expression, Liam finally snapped back to reality.
He rubbed his temples. “Sorry, Briley, I’m just too tired. Let’s talk about this later. You should rest now.”
Seeing how drained he looked, Briley finally seemed to relax.
She stopped pressing the issue, and somehow, Liam couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief.
He had heard her clearly, though.
She wanted him to divorce Jessie and marry her instead.
She didn’t want to leave New York and didn’t want to be in a relationship that wasn’t legitimate.
If it had been before, her pleading look would have melted him.
But this time, for some reason, the thought of divorcing Jessie made him feel annoyed.
So, he decided to change the subject and pretend he hadn’t heard.
He opened his phone again, only to find that Jessie still hadn’t replied- to his messages.
With a grim face, he drove back home but didn’t go inside. He stood outside, chain–smoking one cigarette after another.
Liam knew how much those photos and videos had hurt Jessie.

After the incident, she had struggled to sleep for nights, needing someone to watch over her at all times.
Though he didn’t want to admit it, the thought of her despair made him regret it.
But then, remembering how Briley had been cyberbullied, cursed, and had even had her death photos edited…
His fists clenched as he stared at the window of Jessie’s bedroom.
He was about to go back home, his hand on the doorknob, when his phone vibrated.
Seeing it was Briley calling, he hesitated for a moment before answering. But before he could say anything, loud voices came from the other end, along with Briley’s terrified screams.
“Ah, let go of me! If you touch me, my boyfriend won’t let you off!”
“Hah, you little brat, how can you be so ungrateful? You forgot how good I’ve been to you all these years? Come on, let me have a feel, heh…”
“Get away from me!”
“Stupid girl, don’t push me. You think I’m scared of him? Mr. Foley? He’s just a stepson of the Foley family. He’s nothing compared to Ms. Shepard. What’s he going to do? Ms. Shepard said if I take care of you, she’ll give me 50 million, You’d better stop struggling!”
Liam’s grip tightened on the phone, but before he could speak, the call was suddenly cut off.
Furious, he jumped into his car and sped toward the hospital.
