Chapter 13 Margot Is Miss Magnolia.
Margot got out of bed and ate breakfast. Maggie then handed her an invitation.
“What is this?” Margot asked in confusion.
When Margot opened the invitation, she found that it was for Howard’s birthday party, and he had invited Miss Magnolia. When Margot saw the address, she was in a daze.
Maggie sat opposite Margot and said. “Five years ago, your incense cured Howard of his insomnia. All these years, he had wanted to contact you, but you were focused on your family and rejected him outright.
This time, he sent you an invitation to his birthday party. Since you want to move on from the past, you need to step back into the public eye.”
Margot caressed the words “Miss Magnolia“. A hint of nostalgia surfaced in her eyes.
Her grandmother was brilliant at making incense, and so was she. Margot had learned from her grandmother since she was young. Later on, she developed an incense that was very effective for insomnia. Those who used it said they were cured.
Long ago, she once attended a party with her grandmother. When she happened to hear Howard talking about insomnia and headaches, she gave Howard the incense. Unexpectedly, it worked on him, and her reputation grew.
However, she operated under the alias “Miss Magnolia” and didn’t sell to just anyone. Her grandmother carefully vetted customers, only allowing sales to those deemed trustworthy and of good character.
But later on, Margot liked Halsey and had a one–night stand with him. After marrying him, she stopped making incense
At first, her grandmother advised Margot to cool her heels, but she didn’t listen. In the end, her grandmother ignored her and travelled around the world while Margot was focused on Halsey. In a blink of an eye, five years had passed.
“Maggie, do you think Grandma is very disappointed in me?” Margot muttered.
Maggie replied, “Of course. But if you realize your mistake in time, your grandma will forgive you. This is the perfect opportunity to let the name Miss Magnolia reach the public, and your grandma will understand your intentions through it.”
“Okay, I’m in.”
That night, Margot received a call from Halsey. Her tone was light as she said, “Have you finally agreed to the divorce?”
Halsey wanted to strangle Margot to death for being so hung up on the divorce. ‘Come with me to the family home. Robin has the right to decide too, Halsey said in a low voice,
Margot rolled her eyes, but she did not refuse. Based on how much Robin hated her, he would definitely approved heartily when he heard she wanted a divorce.
“Alright, come and pick me up. I don’t know where the family home is.” With that, Margot hung up.
Maggie asked, “Do you want me to introduce a divorce lawyer to you?”
Margot said, “Not for now. But if Halsey still refuses to divorce, I’ll sue him for it.”
Logically speaking, that shouldn’t be the case because Halsey wouldn’t bear to let Chloe be his mistress. If so, his love was really nothing.
Half an hour later, Halsey sent her a message. Margot said goodbye to Maggie and went downstairs to get into the car.
The driver drove in silence. Halsey was reading documents. He always looked very busy, but he was in a very bad state today. He looked exhausted, and his eyes were bloodshot. It was obvious he had not slept well
Margot snickered inwardly. Of course, he wouldn’t be able to sleep well.
For the past five years, she had cooked for him every day. She would add medicine to the dishes to adjust his condition. Those ingredients were part of the incense. They were harmless, but very effective for his insomnia.
When they first got married, she realized Halsey often had insomnia and had headaches that made him irritable, so she started to nurse him back to health.
As she had taken care of him for five years, his insomnia had not recurred for that long. Now that she was no longer cooking for him, his insomnia naturally acted up.
However, she was a little puzzled. How could Howard’s insomnia be cured for so long, but Halsey’s insomnia acts up without eating the food I make?‘s insomnia acts up without eating the food I make?
