Chapter 6
Skylar’s words contained insults that directly attacked Logan.
Once Skylar got into the car, Ivy leisurely said, “You ruined my car.”
O
“Are you short of money?” Skylar continued, “I’ve already booked the newest model for you.”
Ivy was delighted. “As expected of my little brother.”
“Ask your assistant to get the car towed away later.”
“Yeah, I will,” Skylar answered.
After they left, Logan tightened his grip on the gift bag, and his knuckles turned white.
Oliver did not dare to utter a word. He had a feeling that President Clarke’s brother–in–law did not really like him, but he never expected him to dislike President Clarke that much.
Despite that, Skylar was not to be blamed. It was only normal to dislike him.
Logan tossed the gift bag to Oliver and told him to throw it away before he left in his car.
Although Logan had just been discharged from the hospital, he went to the bar once again.
Henry and Andrew watched him as he drowned himself in alcohol, not knowing what had happened to him.
“What’s the matter?” Andrew moved the wine bottle away..
They did not want to watch him drink, rather, they wanted to hear his story.
“She changed.”
Henry raised his eyebrows. “Ivy?”
Logan stopped talking.
“Isn’t that normal? I would think that something’s wrong with her if she was still true to you.”
Logan then told them what had happened during the day.
“Not bad, Skylar’s a genius for using innuendos. You won’t die because of this though.” Henry gave an evil chuckle.
“She kicked me out. I still don’t understand why-”
Andrew cut Logan off. “You still don’t understand why?”
“You already know that you’re married, but you still got so close to Stella and even protected her. Yet, after the incident, Ivy was the one who had to take care of you. Are you human?”
Right after Andrew finished, Henry folded up his sleeves several times. “Sh*t, hearing this ticks me off. I feel like punching you.”
When Andrew pulled him back, Henry thought that he wanted to reason with him.
Just as he was about to give Andrew a lecture, the latter said in a serious tone, “It’s better not to since he’s just been discharged. It won’t be too late for you to get your hands dirty once he’s recovered.”
Henry was at a loss for words. It was not like he was really going to beat Logan up. The man was too valuable for him to do so.
“I was just saying,” Henry thought.
“Did I get close to her?” Logan was feeling drowsy. When he heard them say that he had been getting close to Stella, he glanced at them.
“Aren’t you two… close?”
“I only see her four or five times a year, and it’s always when you guys are present. Does that count?” Logan asked. “Can that even be 1/4

counted as being close?” he wondered.
Logan was mulling over the issue. Over these few years, he had always been in his own office most of the time. There had also been times where he had not been able to go back home.
Whenever he went back after he had completed his work, Ivy would already be fast asleep. He would have to head to work after waking up the next morning, but Ivy would still be asleep, resulting in them hardly ever seeing each other.
Besides, it was only this year that he was able to make time to meet up with Henry and Andrew since his company was finally on track.
“What time do I even have to get close to Stella? Is it because I have a few more hours than others?” Being the person involved, Logan was confused.
Andrew and Henry were puzzled as well.
“Is it because Stella’s always present whenever we’re together, so that created an illusion for us that you and Stella often see each other?”
Both of them were shocked. “No way, have we been clowning ourselves?”
They suddenly could not say anything and felt awkward. They also started to feel anxious.
Also, from where did you guys hear that I protected her?”
Henry and Andrew were baffled. “It’s the opposite? Are we the ones still making a fool out of ourselves?”
“T–Then… how did you get injured?”
Logan then slowly told them what had happened that day.
“I bumped into Stella that day, and she was in a panic. A man suddenly appeared with a small knife, so Stella hid behind me. Then, someone pushed me and I landed on the knife.” He paused, recalling the man.
After that, he added, “The man seemed to be in shock after he saw that I had been pushed toward him. He even almost stabbed himself.”
Henry and Andrew felt a lump in their throats.
Logan glanced at them for a second and cursed them in secret, “If you guys had given it more thought, you would’ve known that I didn’t protect her on my own accord.”
“That’s a knife, not some gummy candy, I could die if I was stabbed. Did you think that I was that fearless?”
Henry was the first to burst out in laughter.
“Logan, I thought that this was some kind of beautiful love story, but I never thought that it happened to be a joke.” The more he thought about it, the funnier he found it.
“So you asked us to come over so that we could laugh at you?”
Logan was speechless. “These morons!” He berated them silently.
“Then who pushed you? Didn’t you settle the score with them?” Andrew asked.
Henry chuckled. “Our prince isn’t a fearless person, right, my prince?”
“We could do it for him and go to jail together,” Andrew responded.
When Ivy got back home, she felt satisfied as she reminisced on how she had treated Logan today. “It’s the right treatment for jerks like him,” she thought.
For a couple of days, Ivy’s life was very relaxed since she had nothing to do with Logan anymore. She could take walks and get herself a meal whenever she wanted.
Just as she was about to forget about Logan completely, he called her using a new phone number.
“Ivy, perhaps there’s been a misunderstanding between us,” Logan said in a hoarse and deep voice.

Chapter 6
It seemed like he had been drinking.
“So?” Ivy asked, predicting that Logan would ask to meet up with her.
As she had expected, Logan said, “Ivy, let’s have a talk.”
Ivy went quiet for a while but later agreed.
Before she could block Logan, he told her that he did not understand why he had been kicked out of her life. She thought that she could finally use this opportunity to make him understand the reason.
“Is there anything else? If not, I’m hanging up.”
Logan still had something to say, but he did not manage to say it out loud. He was afraid that he would upset Ivy and make her change her mind about meeting him.
“It’s nothing, good night.”
Ivy politely waited for him to finish talking before she hung up.
Logan stared at his phone screen and stayed silent for a long while.
His large house was in a still state, and its emptiness unsettled him.
Ever since he got married, he had not spent a lot of time at home. It had been more than two years, but the total duration of his stay there had just been one year. He had spent almost half of his time outside.
However, he felt lucky to have a well–behaved girl as his wife. Of course, he would have still accepted her regardless. He would feel sorry for her and buy her gifts.
What he had failed to consider was that she had never been short of material things. She was from a background that was evenly matched with his.
He did not know how long Ivy had planned this con, but he could sense that she had been plotting it for a long time, and it was definitely not on a whim.
“Maybe she already couldn’t stand me early on,” he thought.
Ivy and Logan had planned to meet at a cafe tomorrow at ten in the morning.
When Ivy showed up, Logan had already arrived. He had been seated there for what seemed like a long period.
However, when Ivy thought of the times when he stood her up during their meal dates, she felt that it was only a matter of course that he waited for her.
“You’re here on time. Aren’t you busy?” she said flatly.
Logan knew that he was in the wrong, as he was aware that he had not made time for her previously.
In front of Ivy was a cup of black coffee, which Logan had ordered for her.
She pushed the coffee to the side.
“You don’t like it? Do you want to change it to another drink?” Logan asked, watching her gesture.
After all, he did not know whether or not Ivy disliked drinking black coffee, but she would make one for him every time he came back from work. Hence, he assumed that she had always liked it.
“I don’t like drinking coffee, not even one sip,” Ivy had no hopes for him to know what she liked.
Logan did not say anything further.
He figured that Ivy liked places where there was a romantic atmosphere, so he reserved a place at this cafe, but he did not expect her to not like it at all.
Ivy added, “I feel grossed out when I smell coffee.”

Logan sighed secretly. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s fine, there’s no more next time anyway.”
Logan then called out to a waiter and asked them to remove the coffee from their table.
Just as he was about to ask Ivy a question, she quickly responded, “Don’t ask. If you still insist, I’ll make it clear for you.
“I always pretended to be nice to you, but I never loved you. I’ve also been meaning to divorce you for a long time, It was torturous being with you.”
