“Who’s the ugliest?”
Someone shouted, “Our college is huge,
that’s too hard to say.”
Another guy stroked his chin. “Isn’t it that
<
guy, Chase Rivers, who just came back from
overseas?”
Chase Rivers. I knew him. I hadn’t met him
before he left.
I heard he’d had an accident and went to
America for treatment.
He studied online, did well in several projects.
He was back a few days ago.
His grades were excellent. But, for some
reason, rumors circulated about him being
aloof and difficult.
And incredibly ugly.
He had a scar on his face. A really scary one.
Why would Lily want to confess to someone like him?
She looked at Noah, her voice fragile and helpless.
<
“Noah,” she whispered.
She seemed completely distraught.
“I don’t want to.”
“I don’t want to confess to anyone.”
The statement was ambiguous.
Noah sat on the sofa, shrouded in shadow.
He put down his phone, his long legs crossed.
He smiled faintly.
“Oh,” he said. “Then forget about it.”
With Noah’s words, the tension eased. Someone tried to smooth things over.
“Yeah, it’s just a game, no need to be so serious…”
“Why would we make Lily confess to that creep?”
A murmur of agreement rippled through the group.
く
Then, suddenly-
“Why not?”
A girl slammed her fist on the table. She was
Lily’s rival at school.
“The game started, and she said everyone
had to complete the dare! No one gets to
back out now!”
