Chapter 8
The drama at the company building ended with Hugo forcibly taking Jocelyn away.
I stopped concerning myself with their affairs and focused on handling my visa and other matters.
Even without seeking information, news of their situation spread throughout the city like wildfire.
Reportedly, Jocelyn made a drastic decision to terminate her pregnancy at the hospital and even hired thugs to break Hugo’s legs.
Fortunately, my mother arrived in time to stop those men.
Although Hugo avoided becoming disabled, he still suffered lasting effects, walking with a noticeable limp.
My mother went even further–to avenge her precious younger son, she forced medication on Jocelyn who was still recovering from her abortion.
The drugs caused Jocelyn to have her entire uterus removed, permanently eliminating her chance of becoming a mother.
Jocelyn wasn’t someone to be trifled with. She gathered evidence, hired a lawyer, and sent my mother straight to prison.
Chapter 8
Strangely, Hugo never sought revenge against Jocelyn. I wonder if my mother regrets going to prison for years for her son’s sake, while he wouldn’t even look at her.
Most bewildering of all, these two people who despised each other and had caused each other irreparable harm actually got married.
I truly couldn’t understand them–I can only say they were a match made in hell.
Yet even marriage couldn’t curb my brother’s philandering ways.
After his falling out with Jocelyn, he completely dropped his facade, bringing different women home every day.
As for Jocelyn, after marrying Hugo, she channeled her rage into her work–confronting clients, insulting supervisors, and even clashing with an important client of the company.
She was quickly fired.
Afterward, she kept changing jobs but couldn’t last long at any
company.
I had been on my overseas assignment for nearly half a year when I received a call from a former acquaintance.
“You have no idea how many major events you’ve missed while you’ve been abroad.”

“What happened?”
From my friend’s gossip–hungry tone, I knew it must involve those two again.
The acquaintance cagerly continued: “After Jocelyn was fired, she often stayed at home. We thought she didn’t care about Hugo’s affairs since she never seemed to react. Turns out she was plotting her revenge! Recently, after another failed job interview, she came home to find Hugo with another woman. Guess what she did?”
Swirling my wine glass, I asked, “What did she do?”
My acquaintance raised his voice: “She had known about Hugo’s promiscuity and had filled his condoms with industrial–strength adhesive! Hugo and that woman became physically stuck together! At her breaking point, yesterday she took scissors and completely severed Hugo’s manhood! The organ remained lodged inside that woman, who immediately lost consciousness from shock! Hugo, despite his traumatic injury, managed to slash Jocelyn’s face severely! Later at the hospital, doctors discovered both had contracted life–threatening infectious diseases and have been given only a short time to live.”
After hearing this, I could only sigh deeply.
As I hung up, Susan emerged from the dressing room holding two outfits and asked, “Honey, please help me choose–I can’t decide between these two.”
I finished my wine in one gulp, walked over to Susan with a

smile, and said, “Of course, let me help you choose.”
Those troubled souls and their chaotic drama had faded into the background of my past, leaving my life filled with nothing but happiness and contentment.
