I then returned home, briefly explained things to my parents, then retreated to my apartment where I slept until late morning.
When I woke up, I unsurprisingly saw news of Anna’s successful surgery on social media.

I gave it a like as I was genuinely happy for her. However, I had barely taken two bites of breakfast when Ethan showed up at my door.
The apartment my parents bought for me was right above theirs, with the Sanders siblings – Charlotte and Seth
The moment Ethan rang my doorbell, Charlotte heard it too.
Then, after some commotion came the sound of arguing and I opened the door to find Ethan soaking wet and looking utterly miserable.
Seeing me, he managed to suppress his anger. He smiled at me as he said, “I brought you breakfast.”
I glanced at the food in his hand. “Has Anna eaten yet?”
Ethan sighed. “I know I handled this badly. Anna’s surgery is over now, so there’s nothing standing between us anymore. Can you forgive me?
”
His words were earnest, but the same person speaking these sweet words was the one who had not dodged when Anna kissed him yesterday.
What I once considered his positive qualities now seemed like mere stubbornness.
“You’ll forgive me,” Ethan continued, “It’s just a matter of time, as long as I’m sincere enough.”
