I almost laughed. After all, it wasn’t me who couldn’t have kids.
He seemed like he wanted to say more, but then Roxanne’s voice called out for him. Without hesitation, he went to her.

The next day, he suggested that he and I go to the amusement park. He probably wanted to fix things.

Roxanne wouldn’t stop talking during the whole journey. She kept suggesting baby names, making cutesy gestures toward Sebastian, clinging to him like they were a couple.
Then she turned and asked me, “Tessa, is something wrong with your body? Why haven’t you gotten pregnant all these years?”
I hated it when people weaponized children like that. I shot back coldly, “Who said I’ve never been pregnant—‘
Before I could finish, a loud crash interrupted me. Another car had slammed into us, flipping our vehicle over.

“I’m here,” I called out weakly, half–crawling out of the wreckage.
