Chapter 15
If not for the law, Dominic might not have made it out of our yard in one piece. Even from the study, I could hear Callum’s unforgiving voice. He must have felt so satisfied finally giving Dominic a piece of his mind.
“Focus.” Adrian’s voice was mesmerizing. His long fingers traced over the paper, correcting the problematic areas in my design with elegant new lines.
The pen moved gracefully in his hand, bringing my work to life.
Watching my creation become more perfect under his guidance, I no longer cared about Dominic outside. This design could determine whether I won the competition.
Adrian, observing my renewed concentration, looked satisfied. He moved closer
after explaining all the modifications and suddenly asked:
“Have you considered getting a new boyfriend?”
I almost thought I’d misheard him. Adrian was usually so proper–why would he suddenly ask this?
I had thought about this question before. I wasn’t so extreme that Dominic’s
betrayal would make me think all men were like him.
On the contrary, I looked forward to finding love again. All love symbolized beauty —it was just difficult to find the right person.
“Why do you ask?” I rested my chin on my hand.
A hint of a smile touched Adrian’s lips. “I was wondering… what kind of man you
like.”
My gaze lingered on him for a moment. He was certainly captivating. And him asking this question… I had a feeling I knew what it meant.
My professor had described him as cold, and Callum had mentioned that Adrian never allowed any woman to get close to him. I was the first person he’d ever
looked after.
All this suggested Adrian felt differently about me—he probably liked me. “Someone who’s good to me, loves me, and would never betray me.” My voice
grew serious. These were my basic requirements for a partner.

Adrian suddenly leaned closer. His eyes reflected only my image as his voice dropped low, almost hypnotic: “So, what do you think of me?”
Even though I’d guessed his intentions, hearing Adrian say it directly was different. My heart pounded heavily. For a moment, I couldn’t speak, only staring at him in a daze.
After what felt like forever, I finally found my voice again.
Outside, birds chirped cheerfully as Adrian extended his hand to me.
Slowly, I placed my hand in his, and he gripped it tightly.
Perhaps I could give this a try?
After Adrian and I got together, Callum was the happiest. He had wanted to match us up but worried we wouldn’t like each other.
Now his wish had come true.
We were actually together.
Seeing Callum’s joy, I couldn’t help but smile too.
What I never expected, though, was that Faye would come looking for me.
She waited for me at the gate for a long time, wanting to see me.
I was curious about what she would say.
The housekeeper brought her to the garden, where I was comfortably sunbathing in a chair.
Hatred flashed in Faye’s eyes. She was jealous of me.
I had known this for a long time.
Faye’s jealousy wasn’t just about Dominic. She envied me because I excelled in
every way. She might not even truly like Dominic–she just wanted to take him
from me. Seeing me hurt made her happy.
“What did you do to him?! Why did Dominic leave me behind and come looking for you?!” Faye was extremely agitated, finally dropping her facade.
Looking at her twisted expression, I found it almost amusing. “You should ask
Dominic these questions, not me. We’re broken up.”
Faye gritted her teeth, her eyes reddening with anger. “Sienna Blake, what are you

so smug about?!”
Suddenly, as if remembering something, her expression turned triumphant. “You don’t know, do you? Dominic and I have known each other for a long time. Anything I wanted, he’d bring to me. He knew I was acting all those times, but he
never blamed me because he likes me.”
