Xander POV
I’m cautious about who I let into my pack, but if this person was going to be a threat, the Silvermane Hound surely wouldn’t have brought them here?
Garrick walks in front of us, guiding us back to the pack house.
“I came to apologise, I think when they attacked, they took your books. I went through the wreckage but couldn’t find them anywhere.”
Serafine smiles at Helena. “They are here, they just appeared one day.”
Helena’s eyes widen. “I’m glad, I know they are the key to unlocking who you are.”
She doesn’t have her wolf, I can’t sense it, and normally, we don’t allow people into packs who don’t have wolves. They are often outcasts, rogues and such. I know, though, that Serafine won’t let me refuse her entry, and if I did, Serafine would no doubt join her.
“It’s good to see you Helena, I was worried you would be hurt by Gideon and his men once I left,” Serafine says quietly.
“Oh no, they left me alone once they had you. I just wish I could have done more to help, to stop it happening.”
“Who attacked the city?” I ask.
Helena looks at me,
“Helena, this is Xander, Xander, this is Helena,” Serafine says with a smile.
“Hmmm.” Helena watches me for a moment. “He’s not a bad man, just blinded by the past,” she explains.
I don’t know if that is a compliment or not.
“I know you love her, so treat her as such, and we won’t have an issue.”
My eyes narrow at Helena.
“I told Helena about what happened,” Serafine says quietly. “She’s just trying to protect me.”
“Protecting you is something I will do, you’re important to us werewolves, and shouldn’t be hurt, or punished,” Helena says while staring directly at me.
“I learnt my lesson,” I say firmly. “She won’t be hurt, punished, or anything,” I explain. Which is the truth, tonight I plan to ensure the pack knows she’s my Luna going forward, the packs Luna.
It’s essential. She needs to be part of the pack, not someone I bought and am using as on object. She won’t ever truly feel at home here until she’s -accepted and no one can fully accept her until I give them permission.
Killian looks at me as we reach the door. “Dining hall?” he asks.
I nod to him and we walk through and into it. Serafine sits with Helena and I can see they have formed a bond.
“After you were taken I kept looking into things, into you. What it meant, I believe I found out where that place is. Nyvarras Hollow, I think I figured out how to get there,” Helena explains.
“We already know,” I say.
“So when do you plan to go?” Helena asks.
“Soon,” Serafine replies. “Helena, can you remember reading anything about magic? How it’s controled, what should be done?”

Helena smiles at her. “I did actually, I don’t have the book anymore it burnt down in one of the fires. There was a story of a Veyrathi having magic that could exist outside their body. There was stories that the Veyrathi was able to build wards and such for packs, to protect them from outside threats. They traveled from pack to pack to do it, but this was hundreds of years ago.”
She seems to know a lot about this. “How did you know about these things?” I ask.
“Our library has been around for a long time. Each librarian passes it on with the knowledge. I was chosent o take over because I could sense things, and could sense differences in people.”
So it’s not so unheard of? “We hadn’t heard of it,” I say.
“Most werewolves don’t, because it’s seen as a tale, something that isn’t real. Over the years the space between a Veyrathi or Threadborn has grown drastically, which made it less talked about and less known.”
“Gideon knew,” I say quietly.
“From what I know, Gideon traded everything and gained knowledge. He is someone who would torture a man to get knowledge, so it’s no surprise.”
“Alpha,” Killian steps into the room and I look at him. “The pack is ready for the meeting.”
Standing I smile. “Good.” I reach my hand out to Serafine and she stares at me. “It’s time the pack knew who their Luna was,” I say.

She stares at me in shock, but walks with me as she holds Eryx. I pull her closer to me and guide her through the place where we have meetings. As we step in, I see the entire pack there.
I know I need to explain the plan going forward, how things will be, and how Serafine and Eryx aren’t a danger.
Right now though, my focus will be making them aware she’s Luna now, once she leaves I will continue on the meeting. As I walk to the front people watch. There’s low murmurs when they see Eryx.
“Afternoon everyone,” I say. “You’re all aware of the situation surrounding me maryring Serafine. You all know she’s also my mate. This is me making an official announcement that Serafine, is now your Luna. You need to respecct this decision and treat her as your Luna.”
I wait and no one argues.
“I know that there’s a lot of questions that you have regarding how this will work, and I will happily answer them. If you see her, you will address her as your Luna.”
People nod and I turn back to Serafine, kissing her gently. “You take Eryx, catch up with Helena, find out what else she might know. I’ll finish up here.” Serafine looks past me and to the others. “Should I not be here for the meeting?” she asks quietly.
“Today no, focus on getting answers, the most important thing right now is that you get answers and that we begin getting planned to leave for Nyvarras Hollow.” Kissing her cheek I smile, and watch as she walks out.
