Chapter 130
Serafine POV
I’m in the car, holding Eryx and waiting for Xander. Everyone seems to know about our issue, so I hope that it helps us both focus. I can focus on my magic to keep me in place and remind myself not to react to that feeling.
Xander doesn’t have that. Sure, he has Eryx, but that’s not a sensation within him that can help him focus. I could always connect with him because I was told he could feel my magic and help calm it. Maybe that could be the thing he can focus on? Maybe doing that would result in issues like it pulling him closer.
Helena is beside me, and the maid is opposite me. I’m pretty much caged in and protected, which is a good thing.
The door opens, and Killian gets in and sits opposite Helena. Garrick gets in and sits beside him, then Xander gets in and sits opposite Garrick, so Helena is between us.
I can feel it. That need to look at him, to go to him. Focusing on my magic, I shift and reach over, giving Eryx to Xander.
His hands are balled into fists, knuckles turning white with the restraint he’s using. I watch his fists unclench slightly as he takes Eryx from me and focuses on him.
“Let’s go,” he grits out to the driver.
I lean back and relax, and the car begins to move. No one speaks for a while before Killian starts talking about general safety and such. I know he’s trying to distract us, but the issue is, at least for me, if I try to focus on him, I lose the grip I have on my magic.
So, I don’t hear much of what he’s saying; I focus on my magic, keeping my mind fixed there. It helps, sure, there’s still the need to go to Xander, but for now, it’s easier and more manageable.
“Serafine,” Garrick says, and I look at him confused.
“Sorry, I wasn’t ignoring you, it is just easier to focus on my magic, if I focus on you speaking, I lose the grip, and it makes it harder.” My eyes flick to Xander, who is tense. “And me talking is making it harder for Xander.”
Their eyes go to him, and I know they see it as well.
“Okay, simply nod or shake your head then.” Garrick looks at me and waits, so I nod my head. “Good, if this thing, when you are going through the Hollow, is worse, or uncontrollable, Xander will stay behind, Killian and I will walk with you.”
No. My head shakes instantly. Xander has to be there, he’s my mate, I’m not sure if it will make a difference, but I would rather he were there so I knew for
sure.
“He’s still coming, he will just be a short distance behind to keep the space,” Killian explains, and I look at them.
Something tells me that we’re meant to go alone, but right now that isn’t possible. Sighing, I nod slowly. I have to agree because the alternative is we don’t get anywhere because of whatever this is.
Helena leans into me. “This isn’t a spell,” she whispers.
My eyes go to hers. “What?” I whisper.
“The more I sit between you and Xander, the more I can feel it and read it. This isn’t a spell put on you two to distract you. It’s your wolves, I’m not sure what, do you have the journal?”
“I do, I didn’t even think,” I whisper. Why didn’t I think to ask the journal? Reaching the small bag, I pull it out.
Opening it, I grab the pen, and I can feel everyone watching me. Looking up, they are. My eyes slide over them.

Chapter 130
“We’re just as keen to hear what is causing it as you,” Killian says. “Xander has always had restraint, especially with things like heat and such số for this to affect him a lot is big.”
Sighing, I roll my eyes and begin writing.
Why do myself and Xander feel the urge to mate constantly?
I watch the words disappear and wait, but nothing is happening. Maybe I worded it wrong?
What is the cause of mine and Xander’s behaviour?
The words vanish, and nothing.
“It’s not working,” I whisper.
“Ask something that you’ve asked before,” Helena suggests.
Okay, something that I’ve asked before.
What is Veyrathì?
The words vanish, then nothing.
Why didn’t myself or Xander feel drawn to others during the ritual like we’re supposed to?
The words vanish but still nothing.
“It’s not responding at all,” I whisper.
“Stop the car,” Xander says.
“Xander, we need to get there,” Killian argues.
“She needs answers, the Raven is flying above, she can ask that,” he says quietly. He’s not wrong. Maybe the Hollowfang Raven will know? I get out of the car, and Killian follows. I can feel it, focusing on it, I try to call out to it.
“You have questions?” The voice comes from somewhere in my mind, so I know the raven is close.
“Yes, why do me and Xander feel the urge to mate constantly and why is the Threadborn journal no longer replying?” I ask out loud and wait.
“We’re within the Nyvarras Hollow region; whatever questions you have can be answered there.”
Really? I glare at the sky, unable to see it.
“No answer?” Killian asks, and my head shakes.
“No, apparently we’re within the Nyvarras Hollow region, so any questions I have will be answered there.”
Killian sighs and nods. “At least that means you’re able to get answers. That’s good, Serafine, let’s get back in and make our way.”
I nod and climb into the car. I don’t say anything, let Killian explain everything to them, I don’t want to be the one saying it. The fac an answer to the questions from the Hollowfang Raven is worrying me.
I can’t even get
