Chapter 11
Zachary got straight to the point. “So why’s she divorcing you?”
“Right. Why would Winona want a divorce? That’s weird. She should be in deep love with you.” Confused, Ryan patted Xavier on his shoulder. “But hey, now you’re free for Eliza, right? Cheers to that!” He raised his glass, clueless to Xavier’s grim face. Then Xavier knocked his hand away and stood up.
“Fine. Just divorce if she wants to. What does she think she is?” After saying that, Xavier strode away.
“Hey! Where are you going? What about us?” Ryan called out.
After Xavier left, Zachary looked at Ryan and said, “Are you an idiot?”
Ryan frowned. “Why call me that again, Zack?” |
“Mr. Ladies‘ Man, can’t you see what’s going down
“Zachary’s voice dropped.
“See what?” Ryan was confused. “What do you
Zachary just shook his head, feeling speechless. He emptied his glass and got up. “You’re hopeless, man. See you.”
“Wait! What’s wrong with you guys? Can’t you make it clear? Damn!” Ryan yelled
Three days passed by, and New Year was only two months away. The radio station got busy
they had
Το
prepare the show in advance.
“Someone’s here for you, Winona. Will you meet them?” an intern called Lena Gibson asked
who just finished recording.
“Who is it?” Winona asked.
“Two women,” Lena answered.
Winona guessed who they might be and coolly replied, “Tell them I’m busy.”
Lena nodded and said, “OK. I’ll tell them to leave.”
Christine was unhappy when she heard Lena’s reply. “Busy? Who does she think she is? Just a radio host! How dare she make us wait?”
Lena stepped back, wide–eyed, thinking, ‘Why are these pretty women so bad–tempered?‘
Seeing people come and go, Eliza tugged at Christine’s sleeves and said in a low voice, “Never mind. We can wait for her here. Don’t make any noise. It’s their workplace.”
Christine glanced at her and said, “You’re too kind. You’ll be bullied without me, but don’t worry. I won’t let Winona do anything to you!”
Seeing this, Lena turned around quickly, ran into the elevator, and rushed to Winona’s office.
“I told them, Winona, but they don’t look kind. Should I call the security?” Lena asked. She said so because this wasn’t new to Winona. Though she hadn’t shown her face publicly, her evening broadcasts were well–loved, and she had plenty of fans. Some of those fans could get pretty extreme.
Winona looked at her script and shook her head. “No need. Thank you, Lena.”
Winona didn’t get out until 9 o’clock in the evening. She saw Christine and Eliza as soon as she came out, wondering, ‘How stubborn they are.
Eliza caught sight of her, tugging on Christine’s sleeve. “There she is, Christine.”
Christine rushed to her as soon as she saw Winona. She pointed at her nose angrily and said, “How dare you keep us waiting for so long? Did you do it on purpose?”
However, Winona said flatly, “Did I tell you to wait for me?” She meant it wasn’t her problem.
“What did you say?” Christine became more furious, trying to push her, but Eliza stopped her. She knew what Winona was suggesting, so she stared at Winona and said in a soft voice, “Do you have time, Ms. Moore? Can we talk?”
Winona didn’t want to see them at all. She passed them and said indifferently. “No, I don’t.”
