Chapter 19
As a small town, Nimburg didn’t have an airport. So, she had to
transfer in Rivermond.
As soon as she got off the plane, she received a call from Eliza.
Eliza had been calling her in the past few days. Thinking the calls
were about Emery, Bethany never answered.
Now that Emery was in Southmount with Terrence, she assumed
Eliza was calling about something else.
Since Bethany couldn’t talk over the phone, she went to Vespera
Villa in a taxi.
Upon seeing her, Eliza grabbed her hand immediately.
“Mrs. McConnell, you’re finally here. Mr. McConnell and Mr.
Emery went to Southmount for Krista. I couldn’t reach you in the
past few days. You must stop them. Otherwise…”
Eliza didn’t finish her sentence.
Bethany only smiled faintly. Then, she took out her phone and
typed something.

“Is this what you’ve been calling me for?”
Eliza nodded. Then, something important occurred to her. She
hurried to take Bethany into the master bedroom.
“Mrs. McConnell, after Mr. McConnell and Mr. Emery left, I came
to clean and found your wedding photo was gone.””
Bethany looked up. The spot where her wedding photo used to be
was now empty.
So was her heart.
It seemed Krista meant a lot to Terrence.
For her, he even removed the registration photo of him and
Bethany, which hardly counted as a wedding photo.
Terrence was the aloof type, but he had written Krista’s name all
over a piece of paper. One could imagine how much he loved her.
Bethany realized she had overestimated herself.
She had thought that as long as she stayed by Terrence’s side,
she’d win his heart sooner or later.
Seeing Bethany staring at the wall absent–mindedly, Eliza
remarked in a low voice, “Mrs. McConnell, you’re the mistress of
this house. If you’re away all the time, someone else will seize the

opportunity to take your place.”
Bethany felt it was more like she had taken Krista’s place.
“Mrs. McConnell, it’s good that you’re back. Don’t be confused.
You should stay home at this point.”
Bethany’s calm face betrayed no emotion.
Even Eliza knew Terrence and Krista were intimate.
But Krista was actually Terrence’s aunt. It was ridiculous.
Bethany typed another sentence on her phone.
“Eliza, thank you for telling me these things.”
Eliza had seen how much Bethany had done for Terrence and
Emery these years. She felt sorry for Bethany.
“Mrs. McConnell, don’t be sad. You and Mr. McConnell have a
son, after all. Mr. McConnell is only confused now.””
Son…
Bethany smiled bitterly.
Eliza thought Terrence would leave Bethany for their son’s sake.
She couldn’t be more wrong.

Just then, the doorbell rang.
Eliza opened the door.
Randy came in with a cane.
He was 75 years old. Although gray–haired, thanks to good
preservation, he still looked energetic.
He glanced at Bethany flintily with a grave expression and
demanded, “Come to the study with me.”
Deep down, Bethany was reluctant to go.
But this was Vespera Villa. She and Terrence weren’t divorced
yet. Legally speaking, she was still Randy’s granddaughter–in-
law.
She couldn’t refuse directly. So, she followed him into the study.
Randy sat down and rested his folded hands on the cane. His eyes
might be old and milky but they still looked sharp.
Terrence had his personality and looks.
After his mom died many years ago, Terrence’s dad remarried.
He had a half–brother called Collin McConnell.
Of course, Randy had other sons and grandchildren.

But he only wanted Terrence to be the heir to the McConnell
Group.
One, Terrence took after him in so many ways.
Two, Terrence was extraordinarily exceptional.
