Chapter 37
Her words were meant to sound caring, but they were nothing but insults. The mention of “homewrecker” only widened the gap and Zachary,
between Gwyneth
Gwyneth stopped in her tracks and glanced at Bella with a dismissive smirk. “Thanks for the concern. But I’m not like some people who can’t function without their safety nets. I can survive just fine without the Jenkins family or Zachary’s money.
“And even if I did take someone else’s car, what’s the big deal? If you’re jealous, just ask Zachary to get you one. He seems more than happy to pamper you.”
Bella’s face turned pale with anger as she thought, “What? Is Gwyneth implying I’m a kept woman?
She gritted her teeth. “Zachary would never think that. Stop trying to drive a wedge between us with your lies, Gwyneth.
If your love is so unbreakable, why would my words even matter?” Gwyneth scoffed, her eyes cold.
“Gwyneth.why would you say that? Are you just jealous because you’re the homewrecker?”
“Enough!” Zachary cut Bella off sharply. He couldn’t stand hearing Gwyneth being called the other woman. “Stop with the homewrecker‘ talk. It’s not a term to throw around.”
Bella’s tears started to fall. “Zachary… Y–You actually yelled at me?” she stammered.
Gwyneth watched with a mix of curiosity and detachment. Zachary had actually lost his temper with Bella–this was unexpected.
Zachary knew he shouldn’t have said that and quickly softened his tone. “Bella, I didn’t mean it like that he began awkwardly and turned to Bella.
Doy
you really hate me that much, Zachary!”
“I didn’t mean it
“Then I won’t trouble you anymore. I’ll leave tomorrow. Bella sobbed, her voice trembling as Zachary tried to apologize, his words fumbling and awkward
Gwyneth felt nothing as she watched them. She held her mother’s photo close and got into the car. “Take me to the villa,” she told the driver. Mom’s photo belongs with her porcelain.”
With that, she instructed the driver to speed away, leaving Zachary and Bella behind without a second glance.
When they reached the villa, Gwyneth quietly placed her mother’s photo next to the porcelain collection and asked the housekeeper to look after them before letting the driver leave. After dismissing the staff, she wanted to be alone in the villa for a while.
The doorbell rang suddenly. Gwyneth’s eyes snapped
ped open. Glancing through the peephole, she saw Bella standing outside. She opened the door.
Bella screamed and jumped back, startled, her hand on her chest.
Gwyneth leaned lazily against the doorframe, clearly enjoying Bella’s reaction. “How did you find this place?
Hella straightened up, resentment flickering in her eyes as she took in Gwyneth’s calm demeanor. “It wasn’t that hard to find,” she said.
Trespassing” What do you want?” Gwyneth blocked the doorway, eyeing her like a clown at a cheap show
“What spell did you cast on Zachary?” Bella snapped. “He tracked you down to the Jenkins family’s memorial hall. Keeps helping you even knowing you’re a homewrecker. If you’re done with him, why can’t you just stay away?”
Gwyneth rolled her ryck She had thought they were completely over. Yet Zachary kept showing up–flying across the country to confront her, proposing during business meetings, even telling her to give up her mother’s photo earlier. All his moves.
Zachary bad entangled her in thirteen years of chaos. Now, with Bella in his life, he still wouldn’t quit. She was the one who should be frustrated. And yet, Bella had the nerve to show up and blame her.
Gwyneth snorted, “If you’re so great at handling him, why can’t you keep him from sniffing around my doorstep?”
