Why was my fiance’s 3

Why was my fiance’s 3

Chapter

I walked away from my old doorstep, not wanting to have anything coming from those two traitors. I was grateful that the street we lived in wasn’t filled with neighbors, I couldn’t deal with the harassment in front of everyone else

I stopped by a popular bus stop with my bags by my side. Leaving my house this morning I would have never thought that to end the day like this.. I sat here long enough the sun was starting to set

I thought about the savings that had taken me years to accumulate, this was money I’d been saving since I was in high school for a better life but I’d been so blinded by love for the foolish man that I’d thrown it all away

I didn’t have the energy to sob anymore, I didn’t even know where to begin with the cops

I pulled my phone out and stared at the number on the business card. For all I knew this could be another seam scheme

But I have no other option, do I?I sniffed

I dialed the number on to my phone

Before I could speak, a deep voice called back. I didn’t expect you to call so soon.”

I sat up straight, how on earth did he already know who I wash

How did you

So have you made

up your mind, Miss Ellen Harrison!”

Hearing my full name from him caused me to sit up straight. I looked to my left and to my right, a little confused. My raised eyebrow trying to scrutinize and see if anyone around me was being suspicious

Who are

are you! And how did you–

I answer questions in person, miss Harrison, if you would like to have a meeting, my assistant will find his way to you.”

I wanted to play hard to get, terrified with each passing moment, if he already knew so much about me then there really was no telling what this people could do to me if they willed

I closed my eyes tight, holding onto the hem of my chest as my fists balled, knuckles growing white. I hated the humiliation, stooping this low, falling prey to another scam but the one bit of truth that could be a part of it, made me hold on to it

Would he be able to come here tonight?”

Send the address to this number, he said, his voice barely held any emotion, almost like he was doing this every other day

-“I had started to say when he took me aback by hanging up

I stared blankly at my screen in awe, it was only a matter of time before the moon was here and I truly had nowhere to go

I texted the address of the bus station to the said number but there was no response from him

What on earth are you doing with your life?I asked myself with a sarcastic chuckle. I got to my feet, ready to find my way to the police when a car pulled up in front of me

It was a Range Rover with tinted glasses everywhere. I recognised the man who stepped out to be the same one who had been behind Karl Lever

I looked behind him, trying to see if Karl would show up, when Kent spoke

“He’s not here, his voice was monotonic, lacked interest and he looked like he wanted nothing but to get out of here

He reached for my bags, opening the door to the back seat and tossing them there before letting me into the passenger seat

I took the seat in hesitation, my eyebrows furrowed the entire time as I watched him make his way to the driver’s seat

Where exactly are we going?I asked him, one eyebrow raised

Without turning his head in my direction, he simply said, seatbelt”

1 lid as he instructed and he was zooming off. I leaned into the chair. What could be worse than possibly driving to my death in a fancy, expensive

Chapter

It felt like forever but we stopped in front of a gated mansion. I could tell from the look of the houses around me that I did not belong here. Everything was gated and filled with security patrol roaming the streets. Each house was a bright shade of grey, or white, screaming millions of

dollars

The security team at the gate only nodded at Kent as he led me through the walkway of the mansion

was well

We walked past the said mansion and further back into what seemed like a garden. It smelled like flowers and the extreme beauty. I knew it was

taken care of

After an endless walk through the garden, we stopped in front of a smaller building with the lights on. It was made from concrete and I could see the trail of marble floors from the outside

A security man stopped me, commanding me to raise my arms as he scanned me from head to toe with a tool, before letting me in

It seemed the small building was an office

It smelled like expensive air freshener and like I was too poor to be here. My heart was racing with every step I took

There was an oak table separating me from him. A huge floor to ceiling library on one side, and Karl sat on the office chair, his back to us

You may leave his deep voice sent shivers trailing down my body

I didn’t understand what he meant until I heard Kent call back, yes sir,” turning around to leave. I hurried after him

Wa… wait- you’re leaving me alone with him?” I panicked. I continued to follow him until he was out the door. I heard the lock sound click from the outside

I gasped, banging the door as hard as I could, wh what do you think you’re doing? The fear was starting to choke me. I had just been left alone with a complete stranger I knew absolutely nothing about. Of course this was why he brought me here

It felt like my lungs were rising to my chest as I pulled the knob, turning it multiple times like it would

Get me out of here!I called on the top of my voice

That was when I felt it, my back pressed against his chest as he hovered over me from behind

I froze in place

Miss Harrison,he said, his voice reduced to a whisper, his head lowered to match my height

Now my back was pressed to the door, my head craned to meet his gaze

open

With a devious smile, he lowered his head to match my height, whispering in my ear, running away from something?”
