I wasn’t sure why my chest was thumping hard but he didn’t let go of me
“Thanks…” I started to say, hoping to cut off the awkward situation right away.
He cleared his throat, setting me to my feet. He pocketed his hands and stared at the hem of my dress,
“You should get changed then, if an accident like this happens there, you could end up flashing everyone,” he tilted his head in the direction of one of the house staff who immediately nodded her head in acknowledgement of his words.
She turned to me with a smile, and guided me back upstairs.
In no time, I was back with a longer
gown, with so much sparkles on it while Karl waited for me in the car.
He didn’t look up at me as he focused on his phone.
I looked out the window, wondering what on earth I had gotten myself into.
After a while. I could see parked luxury cars all around me. Kent was in the driver’s seat so I turned to Karl to see if he was paying attention to the road but he wasn’t. He still had his eyes glued to his phone.
Soon enough, Kent was parking the car in one of the
spaces allocated to the vehicles.
Karl got our first, he came to my side of the door to let me out, and when he did, he extended one hand for me to take.
We were greeted by a group who all seemed to swoon over Karl And as he led me into the event hall, I heard the murmurs.
“Who’s that by his side? Who is she? Who’s with the Karl Lever?”
A few photograph flashes greeted us until we were inside the hall,

“I’ll be right back,” Karl said to me. Before I could even process it, he had his back turned to me, disappearing from sight, Kent trailing behind him.
So much for staying by my side the whole night. I stood there awkwardly, watching the Caliber of people around me. Everyone was in a luxury outfit of the sort. I couldn’t pin point what exactly this was about.

Layla burst out laughing, “oh please, once you finally left, you took your bad luck with you, she put her arms around Darren’s shoulders, “Darren secured a contract with the best tech company in the country and now we are partners with them, in other words, not only are we swimming in wealth, we get to be invited to places like this.”
