Chapter 74
Bella’s eyes flashed with ruthlessness as her fingers unconsciously tightened around Zachary’s neck. Jealousy surged within her. “That caged bird‘ raised by Zachary, and now she’s actually making both Zachary and me wary of her!”
Gwyneth thought that by becoming Harrison’s mistress, she could control everything. But one day. Bella would make her understand that a mistress is just a mistress. In front of the real Mrs. Lopez, she would only be pushed around
Bella kept stroking Zachary’s nape, regaining just a fleeting sense of security. Whatever, she thought. ‘One day. of Gwyneth.
make Zachary fall for me instead
Bella snuggled into Zachary’s arms; her voice deliberately sweet and drawn out as she cooed, “Okay, I’ll do whatever you say, Zachary
Zachary stood up, stepping back from her. “Alright,” he said, “It’s getting late. You should rest.
The following evening, since Harrison was tied up with work, he specially sent Clyde to pick up and escort Gwyneth. Clyde arrived with everything prepared. A custom–tailored black and gold evening gown that fits her perfectly, along with a full team of professional stylists.
Her curvaceous figure was elegantly wrapped in a black and gold gown. Hair pinned up, chin tilted upward, she had gold dust sprinkled on her. Dace done, her features were striking. Her bright eyes made the makeup artists‘ hearts race.
One of the makeup artists couldn’t help but exclaim, “Wow, the black and gold ensemble truly looks stunning!”
“With features like Mrs. Lopez’s, she effortlessly carries off this grand dress and makeup.”
Gwyneth blushed slightly at the compliments, exchanged a few pleasantries with the others, and then followed Clyde to the gala. Outside the entrance, rows of luxury cars lined the area as a steady stream of elegantly dressed guests flowed through the grand doors.
Clyde thoughtfully opened the door for Gwyneth. At the entrance, a black–suited attendant offered her a mask in a matching color. “Once we’ve confirmed each guest’s identity. You may choose to reveal your face or keep your mask on for the evening
“This party has many young ladies and gentlemen. Some elders set these rules. Wear masks to hide your face and identity. If you can still hit it off, it might lead to a good match.
“Even married attendees may choose freely, the attendant explained with a courteous smile “Perhaps it will surprise your partner–making the evening both romantic and delightful”
Gwyneth put it on. She wasn’t doing this for any romantic games with Harrison. Ever since Zachary’s career took off, she had grown used to staying behind the scenes, rarely showing her face. Being low–key had become a habit she couldn’t break.
“Mr. Lopez won’t be here for a while, Clyde told her, “Feel free to go inside and rest for a bit
“Alright,” she replied.
Yesterday, Harrison had rushed back for her sake, likely leaving a backlog of work. Not wanting to add to his burden, Gwyneth entered the venue aloe–already bustling with guests
Gwyneth took a glass of red wine from the waster, planning to slip away to a quiet corner. Just then, she bumped right into someone, and the wine splashed all over the man’s custom–tailored suit.
“Sorry” Gwyneth began to apologize, but when she looked up, her words caught in her throat. There stood two painfully familiar faces. They were Zachary and Bella.
Gwyneth thought to herself, “What a twisted coincidence. She immediately cut herself short, cleared her throat a few times, and, lowering her voice, said, “Sorry about that
“Sorry won’t fix it.” Bella glared, quickly bending down to wipe the spilled drink from Zachary’s suit. This is a hand–tailored suit that needs six months to book. Now it’s ruined. How are you supposed to attend such an important event.
