Chapter 121
As the party finished, Melanie tightly grabbed the key card and opened the door–only to see, not Adrian, but Arthur, the man who gave her the card earlier, sitting inside.
A cigar hung from his mouth, his flabby skin spilling out from a bathrobe. He looked at Melanie with a happy face and smirked. “What do you
want?”
“You?” Melanie froze in shock. “Wasn’t this key card from Adrian? Didn’t he tell you to give it to me?”
Before she could ask, Arthur grabbed her wrist and pushed her against the wall, leaning close. He sneered. “Adrian? With just your pretty face, do you really think you can get into his bed?”
“Why don’t you stay and serve me tonight? Whatever Adrian can give, I can give the same,” Arthur said, moving in to try to kiss her.
“Don’t come close!” Melanie’s pupils shrank in fear as she fought hard against his grip. Before she could reach the door handle, Arthur threw her into the living room of his suite. She fell hard onto the soft carpet, wide–eyed.
Melanie stammered, “I–I’m the heiress of the Jenkins family! If you dare hurt me,
I’ll-”
“I’m a VIP guest at the Lopez Group’s private party,” Arthur sneered. “You’re just an unwanted girl there–do you really think you can scare me? Be smart and give in now. With that, he lunged at her.
Suddenly, she heard fabric rip loudly; Melanie screamed and fought back wildly. In the chaos, she grabbed an ashtray and hit it hard against
Arthur’s head.
As his screams echoed behind her, she ran out of the room without looking back, stumbling down the hall–until she bumped into someone. Panicking, Melanie shouted, “Get away!”
Tears ran down her face as she saw it was Adrian and clung tightly to his collar. “Adrian,” she sobbed, “I’m so scared and so cold. Please, just get me out of here.”
Adrian froze, staring at the messy woman before him. His first instinct was to have his bodyguards take her away. Melanie saw the disgust in his eyes. As she heard the loud shouting of Arthur, panic hit her.
She thought, ‘I can’t offend this powerful man–especially after I hurt him. If I don’t hold onto Adrian now, I’m dead. He’s my only chance to survive.
With that thought, she bit her lip and melted into Adrian’s arms, her sobs very vulnerable. “Adrian,” she begged tearfully, “I only want you tonight. Please, stay with me.”
Melanie moved restlessly in his arms. Adrian couldn’t resist that. Before Arthur could catch up, Melanie, pretending to be helpless, had already led Adrian into his room.
Meanwhile, Zachary and Bella were still trying to catch up with Gwyneth. Harrison, leaning on Gwyneth’s shoulder with his eyes closed, secretly peeked with one eye open just enough to give Clyde a meaningful look.
Clyde quickly stopped Zachary and Bella. “Please don’t wake Harrison,” he said. Zachary started to protest, but Clyde signaled for the bodyguards to block their way.
Zachary watched Gwyneth walk away, looking sad. ‘She’s Harrison’s mistress now. Her eyes will never look at me again,‘ he thought bitterly.
The three of them got in the car. Gwyneth gently helped Harrison off her shoulder and fastened his seatbelt. Then they headed back to the penthouse at Teloría Apartment.
Gwyneth still planned to send Harrison home first, but the drunk Harrison confused the door and stubbornly leaned against hers. His eyes were glazed, his hand clutching tightly to her apartment door handle, not letting go.
