Chapter 124
As Gwyneth finished her words, the elevator doors opened. Ignoring Melanie’s hysterical screams, she pulled Melanie up and shoved her inside
hard.
Flora and some staff gasped in shock, while Gwyneth stood by the door and gave a cold stare. “Keep this up, and I’ll make sure everyone sees that slap mark–and hears exactly why you deserved it,” she said coldly.
Melanie’s tears fell even more, her rage boiling over. She thought bitterly, ‘There’s no way I can admit I was slapped for my mistakes.”
Flora asked, “So, Melanie, what did you get slapped for?”
Melanie glared at Flora, stormed out of the elevator, and gave Gwyneth a hard shove on the shoulder.
Melanie said, “You’re mocking me with your assistant, aren’t you? I’ve memorized every face in here–if anyone dares say a word about today, I’ll make sure they’re totally ruined! All of you, go now.”
Flora stayed calm while the other workers nervously pressed the button for the ground floor. Gwyneth sneered, “If you care so much about your dignity, why did you sleep with that old guy last night?”
Melanie screamed, “I didn’t! Gwyneth, stop spreading lies about me! You saw the security footage, you know I left. You’re coming with me to explain this to Dad, right now.”
Melanie pulled her like a crazy person, while Gwyneth thought, ‘The security footage was pulled by Harrison’s team. He probably just had them track Melanie’s movements–once they saw her go into the room, they stopped watching!

Gwyneth had no idea what would happen next, nor would she vouch for Melanie. She shook off her grip and snapped, “Take care of your own mess. Don’t drag me into this.”
As the elevator doors opened, Quentin stepped out. His eyes burned with anger when he saw his two daughters tangled in the hallway. “What’s going on here? Have you no shame?”
Melanie cried, throwing herself into Quentin’s arms. “Dad,” she wailed, “Gwyneth is ruining my reputation and making everyone laugh at me!”
Quentin’s temples bulged with fury, and he couldn’t stand Melanie yelling about it in the hallway.
Ignoring Melanie’s tears, he pulled her into Gwyneth’s office and slammed the door.
Quentin yelled, “With so many people watching in the company, you two make a scene in the hallway? Don’t you care about the Jenkins family’s reputation?”
Melanie’s clothes were all wrinkled from being pulled around, tears flowing down her face. The noise gave Gwyneth a headache. She snapped, “Melanie, just tell Dad where you were last night. Do I have to waste my time with this nonsense?”
“I- Melanie fidgeted. She couldn’t admit she slept with Adrian last night.
Melanie thought nervously, ‘Dad’s so old–fashioned. Even though he wants me to be with Adrian, he’s always warning me not to have sex before marriage. If he found out, he’d probably slap me again.
Melanie didn’t dare reply. Quentin was furious. “You won’t speak? How did I end up with such a shameless daughter? Why can’t you learn from your sister–do things properly and marry well like a proper woman?”
Hearing that, Melanie started crying uncontrollably. After venting his anger, Quentin remembered why he came to see Gwyneth and threw the documents he was holding onto the desk.
He said, “Gwyneth, the Orithal Plaza bid is in two days. It’s a Thornton Group project. If you win this, you’ll get promoted to General Manager.”
Gwyneth looked at the documents, and then shot a sharp look at Melanie. “Isn’t the heiress of the Thornton family the one who’s engaged to Adrian?”
