Chapter 140
Bella said, “Zachary, Vera–the violin teacher you found for me–just got here! She really lives up to her reputation as an amazing violinist from a top orchestra. I love her. Thank you so much.”
Even without speakerphone, Bella’s excited voice was loud in the room.
Zachary kindly told Bella, “Now that your teacher is there, make the most of her help. With her, you’ll have a better shot at joining your orchestra.”
dream
Zachary said softly, “Don’t throw a fit. If you’re feeling sick or anything, tell me right away. I still have work to do.” Time passed slowly until Bella was called back to her piano practice. Only then did Zachary hang up.
Just then, Gwyneth’s phone buzzed with a new message: [Want the Mercer Group transfer sped up? Be nice.] Another warning from Quentin.
Gwyneth’s eyes darkened. Putting aside earlier tension, she quickly told Flora to bring some investment plans and handed them to Zachary. “The Flynn Group is big. If you’re trying to get a foothold in Joracity, these projects might interest you.”
Zachary was surprised. Just a little while ago, Gwyneth had cold–shouldered him. But after one call, she was suddenly friendly and eager.
Even though he didn’t fully get why, he was happy that Gwyneth was being nice to him and even recommending investment plans. ‘Finally, Gwennie is paying attention to me, he thought, feeling warm inside.
Zachary’s face lit up as he looked through the projects. “Will you be in charge of all these?” he asked.
“Some of them, but I approve all of them,” Gwyneth replied simply. She was the deputy general manager.
Gwyneth even handed him the pen for signing. “With these projects, I’ll see Gwennie more often. We got thirteen years of history–she’ll come back to me, Zachary thought.”
In less than three minutes, Zachary signed all the papers, making the deal official. Gwyneth, not wanting to waste more time, gathered the files and stood up. “Nice doing business with you, Mr. Flynn, I’ll go share the news.”
Her warm smile from moments ago was gone. Before he could say anything, Gwyneth already closed the conference room door behind her.
In Quentin’s office, he held the signed contracts, smiling proudly. All the deals are done!” he said excitedly.
Gwyneth’s look swept over him coldly. “I’ve done what you asked. Now, arrange the transfer of the Mercer Group.”
“Absolutely!” Quentin was so excited he almost jumped. With the Flynn Group deal done, he wouldn’t want that money–losing Mercer Group.
He quickly called his staff and ordered the transfer papers signed right away. Gwyneth watched everything happen and finally felt happy.
At the office door, Melanie stood with Zachary, lips curling in a cold smirk. “Mr. Flynn, I trust you heard everything clearly? My sister has just been playing with your feelings to get what she wants.”
Melanie sneered and said sharply, “Let me be clear–she doesn’t truly care about you anymore.” She had led him there on purpose.
She thought, ‘In Dad’s eyes, Gwyneth’s main value is her ability to develop business relationships with the Lopez Group and the Flynn Group. If I could make Zachary see Gwyneth’s true side, he wouldn’t help Gwyneth.
Melanie thought she had already won, but Zachary’s face showed no emotion. “I’d still choose her,” he said calmly.
Melanie was shocked. She couldn’t believe a rich heir like him could be so devoted to Gwyneth.
Jealousy exploded inside her. Melanie spat, “She’s with Harrison now! How can you still be her suck–up?”
