Chapter 152

Before he could ask anything, Gwyneth reached up on her toes and plucked a stray leaf from his hair. “This is the one. Thank you,” she said softly.
Harrison’s face warmed up, even though the wind was cold. He lowered his head slightly, letting her fix his hair.
Gwyneth didn’t mind. She quickly smoothed it out, and then they went back upstairs.
Inside, the air was warmer. Gwyneth carried the kitten to her room. When she saw Harrison pulling his suitcase, she asked, “How was the trip?”
“Not bad,” he said, though he was tired and had wanted to come home sooner.
Harrison gave Gwyneth an intense look, then stared at the dishes scattered on the living room floor and a box of ceramics that appeared freshly unpacked.
There was a ceramic piece from Evan’s photo.
Thinking it was a gift for him, Harrison froze. But as the kitten lapped at the water, a cold glint flashed in Harrison’s eyes.
‘Evan’s lying through his teeth, he thought, ready to walk away.
Gwyneth caught his stare. “What do you think of the cat’s bowl?” she asked.
“It’s nice,” Harrison lied. He didn’t like it at all.
Gwyneth, completely oblivious to his mood, fetched two mugs from the hallway. “I made these for you,” she said, pressing them into his hands.
The little gift I gave you last time wasn’t very thoughtful, so when I was working at your friend’s place, I decided to make these properly. The blue wave design should go great with your place,” she added.
Harrison held the two cold cups, already feeling better. Now he even found the kitten oddly cute as it lapped up water. “They’re great,” he said with
a small smile.
Gwyneth let out a relieved sigh. ‘Glad that he likes it,‘ she thought.
She then grabbed a bag from his luggage. “Let’s get your stuff back to your place and unpack. The faster we finish, the sooner you can relax. Consider this a thank–you for helping me find the cat today.”
Harrison didn’t refuse the offer.
After they finished unpacking and Gwyneth left, Harrison fell straight asleep. He needed the sleep after lying awake night after night thinking about Gwyneth.
The next day, at the mall, Gwyneth walked into a men’s clothing store.
Harrison’s silk shirt had gotten wrecked yesterday while helping her search for the cat. The least she could do was buy him a new one.
Right when she entered, a shop assistant greeted her warmly. “Miss, shopping for your boyfriend?”
“Sort of,” she replied. Since they were married now, there was no point denying it. She followed the clerk to look at new shirts.
Behind two racks, Bella squeezed Zachary’s arm. “Zachary, I think that’s Gwyneth. What’s she doing here? Shopping for Harrison or that guy who took her away?”
Zachary turned around and saw Gwyneth chatting happily with the shop assistant.
Before, Gwyneth had come alone to the men’s store to shop for Zachary. Now he wondered who she could possibly be shopping for this time.
He stepped forward with Bella and asked straight out, “Who are you shopping for?”
The familiar voice instantly darkened Gwyneth’s expression. She never expected to meet him here.
She glanced at them, about to explain. But the shop assistant beside her spoke up, “This lady is here to pick out a shirt for her boyfriend.”
That actually saved her the trouble. Gwyneth didn’t look back and kept browsing the styles.
Zachary’s face lit up at the words. After all, he’d been the only one who’d ever officially been Gwyneth’s boyfriend.

He hurried forward and smiled warmly. “Gwennie, I’m touched you’d still pick out clothes for me.”
