“This isn’t fair!” she shouted, her words laced with venom. “I worked my whole life for this family! You can’t just throw me out like this!”
The officers ignored her protests, dragging her toward the door as she continued to struggle.
Adelaide’s shouts filled the hallway as the officers kept on dragging her toward the door. Her voice was shrill, a mix of anger and desperation. “You all deserve to die!” she screamed, thrashing against their grip. “Especially you, Raina!”
The venom in her words stopped me in my tracks. My breath hitched, and I couldn’t help the sharp chill that ran down my spine. I stepped forward, my voice firm despite the unease bubbling inside me. “What are you talling about, Adelalde?”
The officer pulling her toward the exit paused at her insistence, his grip on her arm firm as she twisted to face me. Her eyes burned with a rage I hadn’t seen before, red and wild, as if she were on the verge of losing control completely.
“I worked my whole life in this house!” she spat, her voice shaking with fury. “I can everything. Hept everything running smoothly! And then you came back, and suddenly, it was all about you. Everything revolved around you!”
Her words hit me like a slap, not because they held any truth but because of the sheer bitterness behind them. She wasn’t just angry, she was seething, livid, consumed by resentment.
1 stood there, stunned for a moment, before letting out a laugh that was sharp and bitter. Tears pricked the corners of my eyes, but I refused to let them fall. “Everything revolved around me?” I repeated, my voice breaking slightly as 1 processed her audacity.
Adelaide leaned forward as far as the officer’s grip allowed, her face twisted into a sneer. “It was supposed to be mine!” she screamed “All of it! Mine!”

Alex’s hand touched the small of my back, a silent reminder of his presence, but I didn’t look at him. My gaze remained locked on Adelaide, her face a portrait of unhinged fury.
“You thought you could inherit the Graham fortune?” I asked, taking a slow step toward her. “What in the world made you think that would happen?”
Adelaide didn’t answer, her lips pressed into a thin, defiant line
I thought Nathan just used Adelaide but I should have known this audacious bitch had her personal agenda.
“Tell me,” I demanded, my voice rising slightly. “What makes you think an outsider like you would ever inherit anything from this family while the hilological kids of the same family were alive and well? The Grahams have always taken care of their own. How did you come up with this ridiculous idea?“!
Her face twisted further, and for a moment, I thought she might lunge at me. But the officers pulled her back before she could do anything
“You think you’re so special, don’t you?” she hissed, her voice lower now but no less venomous. “Just because you share the Graham name. But you’re no better than me, Raina. You were gone for years, living your own life, while I was here, running everything I deserved it. Not you.”
I shook my head, a hollow laugh escaping my lips. “Deserved it? You think you deserved it? Trepeated, each word dripping with disbelief.
Her eyes darted between me, Alex, and Dominic, who had stepped into the doorway. There was no remorse in her gaze, to regret. Only bitterness and
hatred.
“You’re pathetic,” I said softly, my voice steady now. “You let your greed and jealousy consume you, and for what? To poison the very family that took you in? That trusted you?
Adelaide’s glare didn’t wver, but the officers began pulling her toward the door again.

I stood there for a moment, letting the silence that followed her departure wash over me. My chest heaved as I tried to calm my racing heart.
Alex’s hand slid to my shoulder, his touch grounding me “It’s over,” he said quietly, his voice a low rumble in my ear.
But as I stared at the empty doorway, my hands clenched into fists at my sides, I couldn’t shake the feeling that this was far from the end.
