Terrence’s warm big hand suddenly left Bethany’s waist.
These days, I was so busy dealing with things between him and
Bethany that I actually forgot my mom’s death anniversary.
He lifted Bethany’s chin lightly, “Be good and wait for me at
home, or you know what’ll happen, huh?”
Even the way she threatened people sounded gentle and nice.
After he finished speaking, Terrence kissed her on the lips and
sucked hard for a long time before he reluctantly let her go.
A thin, shiny string stretched between the lips.
When it broke off, it stuck to Bethany’s lips..
The man’s thumb gently wiped the water from her lips, then he
turned and walked out of the bathroom.
Bethany walked over to the sink with an indifferent look,
squeezed out some toothpaste, and brushed her teeth carefully.
It wasn’t long before the sound of a car engine came from
outside.
Bethany came out after brushing her teeth.
Emery was standing in her room, her little face looking at her with a complaining expression.
She glanced at Emery, walked to the lounge, poured a glass of
milk, opened her laptop, and started reading the script Davon
gave her.
I totally didn’t mean to pay any attention to Emery.
Emery thought it was just unbelievable.
He even went to his mom’s room on his own, but his mom just
treated him like he wasn’t there!
He stormed over to Bethany and reached out to close the laptop.
“Mom, why did you ignore me?”
Bethany finally looked up slowly and met Emery’s angry eyes.
Why did she bother with him?
He didn’t want her as his mom anymore.
Emery asked, “Why did you embarrass me at the quilting
contest? I’m your son. Did you really want me to lose face in
front of everyone?”

“Why can’t you treat me as well as Krista? You didn’t use to be
like this. Why have you been so unreasonable lately!”
“Also, you’ve been married to Dad for so many years, and I’m
already this big. Having a wedding now, don’t you feel
embarrassed?”
Emery let out all his anger at once.
Bethany didn’t care about anything about Terrence anymore,
because she and Terrence were different people.
After the marriage ended, we could totally be strangers.
But Emery wasn’t.
He was born after she carried him for ten months, he was a
piece of her own flesh!
The mother–child relationship existed, so it was eternal.
Even if she divorced Terrence, she and Emery were still real
mother and son, tied by blood.
Even if they cut off the mother–child relationship, this blood
bond still wouldn’t disappear.
Bethany raised her hand in disappointment, “If you didn’t deceive others, how could you lose face? Someone with real

Emery was left speechless by her comeback.
His cheeks puffed up with anger, and his eyes turned red. In the
end, he couldn’t take it anymore and shouted, “Isn’t it just
because you’re mute! If you weren’t mute, why would I let
Krista pretend to be my mom out there? Have you ever thought
about how I feel?”

Bethany slapped Emery hard across the face, her gesture angry
and firm: “A dog never minds a poor home, and a child never
minds an ugly mom! You can cut out a picture of a lamb
kneeling to its mother, but you look down on me because I’m
mute. What right do you have to win a prize? What right do
you have to care about your reputation? You call someone else
your mom just to get some fake respect–is that what you really
want?”
