Terrence’s heart gave a hard jolt, “Beth, let’s not bicker or fight, okay? I only took care of Krista like family, I thought you’d
understand. If it really bothers you, I can keep my distance from
her.”
“I didn’t care anymore. Whatever you wanted to do with her
was up to you. Even if you brought her to Vespera Villa right
now and ate and slept with her, it didn’t matter to me.””
“Bethany!” Terrence curled his fingertips, the veins on the back
of his hand and his forehead bulged. “Do you know what you
were saying?”
“What was I saying? Of course I was talking about the facts, Mr.
McConnell, stop pretending, nobody would believe it.”

She used to call him Terrence, but now she just switched to Mr. McConnell.
