Chapter437
Shyla held the card happily and said, “Bethany, Santa was so
nice to me. I could go to the amusement park and have fun
today!”
Shyla took off the second bag. “Bethany, you open this one.”
Bethany opened the bag, and inside was the pearl necklace
Terrence gave her on her birthday.
Later, it got broken in Krista’s hands.
It was different from before.
Actually, there were ten pearls set with jade, strung together,
getting bigger from small to large, in order, which made the
whole pearl necklace look a bit more modern.
I guess these ten pearls were probably the ones that got
damaged at the hospital last time, and Terrence fixed them up
again.
His mother’s keepsake, he still insisted on giving it to her.
“Bethany, Santa was so good at picking gifts, the necklace he
gave you was so pretty!”
Chapter437
If it was other stuff, Bethany could take it, no reason not to.
But this necklace was different, it was Terrence’s mother’s
keepsake, if she accepted it, it meant something else.
“It was really pretty.”
But she didn’t want it, she put the necklace away and left it on
the dressing table.
Shyla said there was another bag.
Bethany glanced at the bag and said, “Let’s not open that one.
How about we get ready and go to the amusement park?”
When she heard they were going to the amusement park, Shyla
stopped staring at the bag.
Kyson brought Shyla some clothes. It was a beautiful princess.
dress, and the matching headpiece was inside too.
Bethany changed Shyla’s clothes, did her hair really nicely, and
used her lipstick to put a beauty mark on Shyla’s forehead.
“Our Shyla was definitely the prettiest little princess in the
whole amusement park today.”
Shyla looked in the mirror and was super happy.
Chapter 37
Sure enough, having mom around was still the best.
Kyson and Terrence were in the living room, staring at each
other.
Bethany brought Shyla out. Seeing Shyla all dressed up,
Terrence frowned again.
I really didn’t notice before, but now that I look closely, Shyla
actually did look a lot like Bethany when she was little.
It was really dangerous.
Because last night Lucian commented on Kyson’s Instagram
that Shyla and Bethany looked a bit alike, maybe that idea got
stuck in his head. Now, when Kyson looked at Shyla, he just felt
Shyla really did look like Bethany.
So Kyson glanced at Terrence on purpose and said, “You know,
Shyla really looks like you. If nobody said anything, people
would totally think you two were real mother and daughter.”
Shyla jumped in right away, “Bethany, do you need a daughter?
If you do, we can drop the ‘god‘ part and I’ll be your real
daughter.”
She didn’t have a mom anymore, she really wanted a mom. Last
night she slept with Bethany, and Bethany even told her a

bedtime story. Her arms smelled nice and felt soft, almost like
when her mom was around.
Terrence said in a serious voice, “Shyla, you’re a child of the
Duarte family. If you went to the McConnell’s villa, your great-
great–grandpa wouldn’t have agreed.”
If they wanted a daughter, they could have one themselves.
“Terrence, you didn’t need to worry about this. If Beth was
willing, my grandpa definitely was too.”
Bethany squatted down, touched Shyla’s little face, and said,
“After a while, I has to go abroad. When I finish everything and
settles down, I’ll answer you, okay?”
She wasn’t stable right now, so she couldn’t take care of Shyla all
the time.
She couldn’t let the kid down.
