Chapter 7
Alexander stared into Stella’s eyes.
“Stella, do you know what you’re saying? Didn’t you confidently promise me you could definitely heal my legs?”
“I followed all your instructions and applied the medicine properly. Why do I suddenly need amputation?”
Stella couldn’t meet Alexander’s questioning gaze, her expression stiff, her fingers gripping the bed rail tightly.
Seeing her like this, disbelief flashed in Alexander’s eyes.
“Is it really like Luna said–you’re the one who made me like this? Stella, why?”
“It wasn’t me, Alexander, I didn’t harm you!”
Stella’s face flushed red with panic.
She then stood up and pointed at me accusingly.
“It must be you who tampered with my medicine. Aurelia, you just can’t stand seeing Alexander and me together, so you don’t want us to win.”
“Aurelia, you’re so malicious. Just because Alexander won’t mate with you, you want to kill him?”
I looked baffled.
“Stella, you need evidence when making accusations. From the day we made the bet, I haven’t even entered the Blackthorne estate. How could I have tampered with your medicine?”
“Besides, I’ve never said I wanted to mate with Alexander. That’s all your own assumption.”
But Stella wouldn’t let go.
“Everyone knows that when you returned from abroad and heard about Alexander’s paralysis, you rushed to the Blackthorne estate without even going home first. What else do you have to explain!”
That was because when I was young, Alexander had once saved me, so I wanted to heal him to repay his life–saving grace.
But in this life, I had already refused to treat Alexander’s legs.
Because I had already paid for that debt with my life in the past.
I shrugged.
“Ever heard of a healer’s compassion? Any patient who sincerely seeks my treatment, I would do my best to save them.”
“Your medical skills are inadequate–don’t blame everything on me.”
Stella gritted her teeth in
anger.
“Aurelia, you definitely tampered with it. You’re the one who caused Alexander to lose his legs!”
“Enough!”
Alexander suddenly roared, interrupting her.
“What’s the point of arguing about this now?”
“Mother, notify the doctors to perform the surgery.”
Seeing Alexander finally agree, Luna Margaret quickly went to call the doctors.
As the doctors wheeled Alexander toward the operating room, Ethan suddenly stepped forward and yanked off the bracelet from Alexander’s wrist.
“Alexander, stolen property should be returned to its rightful owner.”
Alexander glared at him viciously.
“Ethan, don’t get too cocky.”
I stared at the bracelet clutched tightly in Ethan’s hand, a chill running down my spine.
Could it be that the person who saved me back then was Ethan?
When I was six, I was kidnapped along with a boy who helped me escape.
He hid me in a box and went out alone to distract the kidnappers.
I gave him my bracelet as a token, promising we would reunite after we both escaped.
But unexpectedly, as soon as I was rescued, my pack family sent me abroad.
That departure lasted fifteen long years.
Until I saw Alexander’s photo in the news and recognized this bracelet on his wrist.
But the bracelet’s true owner was actually Ethan.
So in my past life, I had mistaken the person and caused my own death.
Ethan’s eyes glinted coldly.
“You think I haven’t sought revenge until now because I don’t know the truth about that car accident? Once you walk out of that operating room alive, I’ll settle accounts with you properly!”
“Alexander, I hope you can continue being this arrogant in the future.”
After Alexander was wheeled into the operating room, Ethan and I went to the lobby to rest.
I looked at the bracelet in his hand and asked.
“Ethan, you were the one who saved me back then, weren’t you?”
