“Good morning, gorgeous Hazel!” Chloe burst into the kitchen wearing her silk pajamas, practically glowing with anticipation. “And hello to the most adorable little prince in the universe!” She swept down to press a tender kiss against my son’s forehead.
Leo beamed up at her with that infectious morning energy only children possess. “I got up super early, godmother!”
“Good morning, Chl. All this radiant happiness is because Noah touches down today, isn’t it?” I teased, watching my best friend practically float around the kitchen island.
“Oh Hazel, my darling man arrives today and I’m absolutely dying to get my hands on him!” She fluttered her eyelashes theatrically while clutching her chest in mock swooning.
“Well then, let’s fuel up with breakfast, get ourselves ready, and transform his apartment into the perfect welcome home,” I declared, genuinely thrilled for my friend’s reunion.
After we finished eating, we made our way to the apartment Noah had purchased just three blocks from ours. Chl had orchestrated furniture and appliance deliveries throughout the entire week, and today was designated for final arrangements and deep cleaning.
Miranda volunteered to stay with Leo at our place. I refused to expose him to cleaning dust so soon after his recent cold recovery, plus this arrangement allowed Chl and me to concentrate completely on creating the perfect setup.
“Hazel, I’ve been fantasizing about surprising Noah with an incredibly romantic evening. Well, everything except dinner since we’re all supposed to eat together tonight…”
“Absolutely not, Chloe! You’re going to create a romantic evening exclusively for you two, and that definitely includes dinner. We can all share lunch together with Evelyn tomorrow instead, I cut her off firmly, insisting their reunion night should remain intimate.
“But Hazel, you know Noah adores you all and is desperate to see his precious godson,” Chloe whined with exaggerated disappointment.
“He can reunite with us tomorrow. Let’s complete this setup, then I’ll help you orchestrate this romantic evening properly. Picture this: you’re waiting here when he walks in, wearing absolutely stunning lingerie, with excellent wine chilling, a mouthwatering dinner prepared… 1 painted the scene for her.
“Fm obsessed with this plan! Since he’s stopping here first to unload his luggage, I can absolutely pounce on him immediately,” she replied with a wicked sparkle dancing in her eyes, making me burst into laughter at her shameless expression.

“Then let’s finish everything quickly because we need to hit the mall for your seduction outfit,” I announced, feeling genuinely excited about orchestrating my friend’s romantic surprise.
Immersing myself in organizing Noah’s apartment provided the perfect mental distraction. It represented the absolute minimum I could contribute for my devoted friends. Once everything looked flawless, Chl and I ventured to the mall to gather everything required for her romantic
ambush.
The moment we entered the shopping center, we made a direct beeline toward an absolutely exquisite lingerie boutique. Chloe selected a breathtaking crimson corset ensemble, purchased a matching negligee in identical scarlet, and I decided to indulge myself with a pristine white corset set featuring delicate powder blue ribbon accents and absolutely stunning lace details. I maintained a serious weakness for beautiful lingerie.
While approaching the checkout counter, I addressed my friend decisively:
“Chl, you mean absolutely everything to me, so don’t even consider arguing. This lingerie collection is going to be my special gift for you and Noah.”
“You’ve completely lost your mind, Hazel, absolutely not! This is incredibly expensive, I cannot possibly accept such generosity, Chloe protested vigorously.
“You can and you absolutely will accept it. Unless you’re planning to deliberately insult me?” I challenged her, eliminating any possible escape route. I genuinely wanted to present my friend with something special to express my gratitude for her helping me secure new employment. “Oh bestie, fine then. Thank you so much! I’m going to look absolutely scorching in this lingerie, don’t you think? Chloe gushed with pure excitement.

We departed the lingerie boutique and continued shopping for Chloe’s remaining romantic necessities. We wandered throughout the mall, purchased everything on our list, including adorable little surprises for Leo, and were approaching the main exit when a distinctly familiar voice called out behind us. I turned around and immediately recognized the enthusiastic saleswoman from the elegant dress boutique we had visited previously.
