Chapter 6
The moment I saw the wreckage, I didn’t hesitate–I picked up my phone and called the Enforcer Division.
Sure, proving theft would’ve taken time and effort. But malicious destruction of property? That was cut–and–dry. Especially with our villa’s high–resolution, scent–synced surveillance system–it caught everything. Every stomp, every shred, every smug look on Cecilia’s face as she tore apart what was once my home.
After that, I brought in a specialized cleanup team–wolves discreet and efficient, the kind who didn’t ask questions–to remove every trace of Alexis and Cecilia from the place. But it wasn’t the kind of job that could be done in a single moon cycle.

So I went back to my parents‘ territory.
As I stood in front of the gate I used to run through as a pup, emotion surged in my chest. I hadn’t returned here in years.
This house had once held warmth, laughter, the grounding comfort of pack and family. Alexis and I even lived here for a time–until he claimed it made him “uncomfortable,” and I, blinded by love, moved us into a new villa just to keep the peace.
After that, every time I tried to come home, he had an excuse. Too tired. Too busy. Or worst of all–he’d say, “Do we really need to spend so much time with your family?”
Then came Cecilia.
Once she arrived, Alexis practically stopped

showing up altogether. And my villa slowly became theirs. He kept insisting she was like a sister to him–just a close friend from the same orphanage. But his “sister” sure didn’t act like one. She moved like she owned the place, marking her scent on everything. And I–the real Alpha’s daughter, the woman who paid the bills–was constantly told to “be patient,” or accused of being too sensitive.
Looking back, the illusion had been fading for a long time. I just hadn’t wanted to admit it. Love does that to a she–wolf–it clouds your instincts, muffles your inner voice, makes you tolerate the intolerable.
But now, standing at the threshold of the home that raised me, I finally felt something I hadn’t felt in years–peace.
Of course, I wasn’t just here to lick my wounds. There were practical matters to

handle.
The wedding was off–barely a moon cycle away–and the guests needed to be informed. And Alexis’s cushy job? That would be my father’s decision now. I’d begged to get him into our pack’s business in the first place. If he had any real skills, great. But after everything? That wasn’t my concern anymore.
I didn’t expect my father’s first reaction to be… relief.
“Good,” he said, exhaling deeply. “Calling off the wedding is no big deal. The company- that’s the part I’ve been worrying about. Now maybe things will settle down.”
I blinked. “What do you mean?”
I’d always kept myself separate from the

family business. I studied design, not finance, and had no plans to take over anything involving quarterly reports or corporate politics. My parents respected that. We rarely talked work.
But I had seen Alexis’s growing profile on the pack web–designer suits, flashy cars, rubbing shoulders with alphas and betas from every corner of the Northern Clans. He was being painted as the rising star, the future Alpha heir.
Apparently, it was all smoke and mirrors.
My father gave me a long, searching look. Then he sighed. “We thought he was loyal. But once he got access to the company’s inner workings, we started seeing strange movement in the accounts. He was
redirecting funds–lining his own pockets.”

Wight frown, “Your father gave him subtle warnings. Hints, really. But Alexis played dumb. And because you two were engaged, your father kept covering for him. Quietly.”
I felt the air knock out of my lungs.
It wasn’t just me. Alexis had taken advantage of all of us. My entire family.
I clenched my fists until my claws threatened to break skin. “Dad, we have to make him return the money”
But my father didn’t answer right away. Instead, he gave me a steady, level gaze.
“Are you sure?” he asked. “It’s not a large sum in the grand scheme of things. It’s about principle. But if you were still with him, I’d be patching those holes forever.”

nderstood what he was really saying. I’d ven Alexis too many chances, looked the 7ther way too many times. My father had
very right to question whether I’d really Volosed the door this time.
2 But I was done. I was truly done.
“I’m sure,” I said, voice firm. “There’s nothing left between us. Nothing worth saving.”
My father nodded. “Alright then. I’ll speak with him. We’ll keep it civil–if he gives the money back, we’ll let it go.”
It wasn’t mercy. It was dignity. My father had raised me to know when to strike, and when to walk away with your head held high.
After all, Alexis wasn’t just a former fiancé. He’d been a scholarship pup my dad had

taken in, mentored, even treated like a foster son. That kind of history doesn’t just vanish overnight.
But people show you who they are.
Once the rot beneath the surface is exposed,
it never goes away.
It spreads.
It hollows out everything you thought was solid.
Until all that’s left… is ruin.
