Hugo’s eyes became icy and intense as he looked at the deep bite marks on Lina’s arm.
Rather than directing any anger at me, he frowned and sharply addressed Lina. “Didn’t I tell you that no one but me is allowed in here?”
Lina stopped in her tracks, then began to cry. “Hugo, I’m sorry. I know you’ve been giving Amy your blood lately. I was just concerned about you…”
She bit her lower lip sadly and asked, “If you don’t Embrace me, will I become like Amy, a low–level vampire?”
Hugo gazed at me with a blend of feelings, then, without hesitation, extended his wrist to Lina.
Despite being the daughter of famous vampire hunters, Lina, who should have been the vampires‘ sworn enemy.
But she drank Hugo’s blood with apparent delight, as if divinely favored.
Hugo’s crimson lips turned a shade lighter.
His blood wasn’t enough to sustain us both.
As Lina fed voraciously, Hugo frowned and pulled back his hand. “Don’t enter the master bedroom again without my consent.”
When Lina departed, he gazed at me with deep concern.

“Amy…”
Yet, no matter how many times Hugo called my name, I only tilted my head, sizing up his strength with an empty stare.
Vampires have the ability to consume one another by drinking another vampire’s blood; they gain all their powers.
Consequently, low–ranking vampires lacking humanity or respect face one of two outcomes.
They are either kept as livestock by more powerful vampires or ruthlessly disposed of like garbage.
Maybe the way I looked at him, seeing him solely as prey, was too direct and completely emotionless.
A flicker of pain appeared in Hugo’s eyes as he reached out to touch my face. “Amy, the seventh day is approaching. Please, wake up and recall everything between us.”
The next day, Lina barged into the master bedroom, clearly thrilled.
Hugo, holding me, sharply reprimanded her. “Didn’t I tell you not to enter the master bedroom without my permission?”
The next instant, he paused at the sight of Lina’s crimson eyes. “Did you finish the transformation that fast?”
Typically, a vampire takes seven days to complete the transformation.
A quicker transformation indicates a higher rank and more potent abilities.

Lina offered Hugo a modest smile and said, “Hugo, you are a pure- blood prince who turned me, and now I’ve gained your skill in controlling puppets.”
Most vampires have a single ability, but Hugo, being a pure–blood, is an exception.
He possesses numerous powers, and vampires he turns inherit one of
them.
Even Hugo was surprised that Lina was fortunate enough to acquire his most potent offensive ability.
“Who could have predicted that possessing both hunter and vampire heritage would grant you such strength,” Hugo remarked, his
expression softening as he regarded Lina.
“Tomorrow night, I’ll gather the Kindred for a banquet to formally introduce you to other noble families and solidify your status and reputation.”
Overwhelmed by the honor, Lina suddenly shot me a frosty look before smiling. “Thank you, Hugo. I’m certain tomorrow’s banquet will be quite… spectacular.”
