Chapter 7
Before the Kindred’s banquet commenced, Hugo gently kissed my forehead.
“Amy, today is important with many nobles coming. Stay in your room and don’t stray.”
However, as soon as Hugo departed, the master bedroom door opened.
The butler was holding a key in his hand. He had vacant eyes, just like a puppet.
He ignored my attempts to pull away and my threatening growls.
He grabbed me and hauled me to the banquet hall, where nobles were assembled, and piano music echoed.
Lina was soaking up compliments and networking.
“It’s incredible that as a descendant of a vampire hunter, your transformation has given you such formidable powers and lineage. Despite being originally human, you’re stronger and purer than many born vampires.”
“All the credit goes to His Highness. Since, as a pure–blood prince, any human he transforms naturally exceeds regular high–level vampires.”
Lina pressed her lips together and offered a sly smile, pretending not to let slip. “Today, another human, aside from myself, received His Highness’s Embrace. It’s been seven days. I’m curious about her new rank and powers.”

Upon hearing this, the vampires leaned in with anticipation.
“Is it the human His Highness brought back before?”

“Amy has an unusual scent, and her blood isn’t like that of regular humans. I’m eager to know which of His Highness’s powers she inherits?”
When the conversation shifted to me, Hugo’s expression darkened, and his voice tightened. “Lina, what are you talking about? When did Amy get my Embrace?”
Intimidated by Hugo’s fury and authority, Lina hesitated briefly before speaking softly, “Your Highness, after witnessing you nourish her with your pure blood for seven consecutive days, I thought Amy had acquired your powers. Perhaps even more than one.”
With those words, the hall burst into chaos.
“Just one drop of His Highness’s pure blood is priceless. Amy has been nourished by him for seven whole days?”
“I can’t begin to fathom the powerful abilities she’s acquired from ingesting such a quantity of royal blood!”
The audience was abuzz with intrigue, demanding that Hugo bring me
forward.
Hugo’s fists tightened and loosened, over and over.
“Amy hasn’t finished her transformation yet. She’s not prepared to…”
Before Hugo could complete his sentence, the butler pushed me into the scene.
“Your Highness, Amy has fully transformed. I have brought her to

you.”

As the intrigued nobles gathered around me, eager to get to know me.
I shrank back into the corner, frightened and cautious, my throat emitting low, warning growls.
The closest vampire noble gasped, covering their mouth. “Oh my, Amy is just a mongrel!”
“Mongrel” is the term noble vampires call lower–ranking ones—a slur that flaunts their pure bloodline.
Cries echoed continuously through the air.
“Indeed, I’ve encountered Amy before; she’s utterly mindless now, a genuine mongrel!”
“She was given His Highness’s pure blood for a whole week and still turned into a mongrel? That’s unprecedented! Her original blood must have been utterly foul!”
“This is a scandal for the Kindred and His Highness! Amy Chu must be executed at once. She cannot be permitted to tarnish our reputation!”
