“I need a drink,” Tristan repeated, “All this talking has me parched.”
I glared at him and scoffed, “If you want a drink the maids can fix that up for you.”

I was laying down and scrolling through Facebook when I saw a post that Serena was tagged to
It was a picture of me with the writeup stating that I was missing and anyone who had any useful information about my whereabouts would be paid.

With that she kissed me on my forehead and left. I rolled around on the bed a bit longer before I slept off.
I woke up to the sweet scent of waffles. I got out of bed and quickly got dressed. Today was the day dad was introducing me to the board members and also the day I was meeting with Tristan for the blackmail.
The thought of him had me filled with anger as my cheeks reddened a little. I brushed it off as I went downstairs to have breakfast.
The table was set. There were two waffles with a cup of dark coffee on the table for me. My parents were already seated at the table eating.
“Princess, you’re awake,” my father said.

We used the elevator to get to the last floor where the board members were waiting for us. By the time we arrived, all eyes turned to us and the murmuring began.
I refused to cower. I held my head high and walked in with my father as I sat down beside him right at the head of the table.
“Who is the new girl, Owen? Someone that will handle our patent issue?” one of the men across the table asked.
My father nodded, “Board members, I’m stepping down and entrusting this company into the capable hands of my only child, my heiress, Rosalie Merrick.”
The board began muttering immediately and an argument ensued.

“How can you step down at this critical moment, Owen?”

“Is she going to solve the Patent case?”
I stared at my father as they all rambled and he gave me a nod.
I stood up and in a clear voice, I said firmly, “Silence!”
The effect was wonderful. Everyone kept quiet and I could have sworn they stopped breathing.

With a tight–lipped smile, I continued, “This is my father’s company and I’m the new CEO. I will handle the Patent case and make sure those outrageous charges are dropped.”
None of the board members spoke until one man scoffed. I arched my brow at him.
“Do you have anything to say?” I asked him.
He scoffed, “Yes, I do. You can’t just walk in here and claim to end the Patent case when we’ve been trying to do that for months without success. I know you’re Owen’s kid but don’t get ahead of yourself simply because you want acceptance.”
“Let’s make a deal. If I close the patent case by the end of the day, I own your shares and you’ll resign but if I don’t, I’ll step down as CEO and apologize,” I said.
