“What?” I asked, blinking.
I was too stunned to react as I stared at Rose, her words resounding in my ears like a ticking time bomb.
“Seriously? Right when I was about to kiss you,” I groaned.

Ever since I met her, I’ve been having strange feelings. Butterflies, flutters, excitement annoyance, tiny feelings that necessarily didn’t mean anything.
But with the way she was talking and hiding her face it was clear I wasn’t the only one feeling this way.

Rose stared at me, her brows furrowing in confusion, “What confession?”
“I know about the miscarriage… and the doctor’s diagnosis. But Rose–it’s a lie.”

can.”
“Then why would the doctor lie to me? This doesn’t make any sense,” Rose said.
I nodded, “Please, calm down.”
“Also why did you look into me and not tell me? I was just trying to be honest with you,” she snapped.
“I didn’t want to spook you, Rose, but I really want to help you get your revenge on them especially after everything you’ve had to go through,” I explained.

“Serena threatened his daughter. Told him if he didn’t lie to you she’d kill her,” I answered. Rose gasped, “But… but why would she do that?”
“Because she wanted to see you completely broken and destroyed. She wanted nothing more than to hurt you so badly you’d be unable to rise again then she’d kill you.”
In my opinion, that was the type of sadistic bitch Serena was and that was what she tried to do to me.
Rose’s eyes hardened, “I wanna burn that bitch to the ground.”
I grinned, “We can do that. I’m gathering all the evidence I can against Serena. When it’s ready I’ll hand it over to you.”

I could see the way her eyes glazed over as she toyed with the idea and nodded.
“You, good sir, always know what I need,” she said to me.
I smirked, “Now can I get that kiss?”
Rose hesitated, “I don’t know, Tristan, I just don’t want things to get complicated with

We spent the rest of the night drinking and enjoying our dessert. Then I took her back home before midnight.

My grandfather stared at me and laughed, “Boy, I’ve seen war, love, and whiskey

love.”
I chuckled, “Grandpa, you should get some rest now.”
“You probably don’t know it yet, boy, but you’re in love and soon I’d meet the special girl who made that happen. Good night, kiddo.”
I watched as my grandfather stood up and left while I remained seated, wondering if maybe he was right.
But it couldn’t be right? I can’t be in love with Rose. I lost that ability years ago when Serena betrayed me.
