Marcus’s response came almost instantly.
[Alright, I’ll come to pick you up in three days.]
Seeing his agreement, I finally exhaled a breath I didn’t realize I was holding.
My body had been weak for as long as I could remember. After losing the baby, it took me three days in the Pack hospital just to recover enough to stand on my own two feet again. Roland hadn’t shown up until the day I was discharged.
“Hey… sorry” he said, his tone light, as if this was a trivial matter. “Brianna’s on her cycle. She’s been in so much pain that she can barely walk. When I’m not with her, she gets…

anxious.”
I kept my back turned to him as I quietly packed my things. My voice was cold and indifferent. “Hmm.”
Sensing my icy demeanor, Roland stepped closer and wrapped his arms around me from behind.
“Look, I went overboard with the drugs last time. It was… wrong. I know I lost control- but trust me, that’s never going to happen again,” he said, his voice low and filled with what I assumed was supposed to be sincerity.
“I know you hate Brianna because you love me. But I swear, there’s nothing between us. We’re just friends. And don’t ever forget: you’re my mate. What are you so afraid of?”

If Roland could see my face right now, he would’ve seen the contempt swirling in my
eyes.
Friends? You’re just friends, and yet you slept together? What kind of “friendship” is that? I sneered internally, biting back the
words I
sharp wanted to hurl at him. What’s
next? Do we need Brianna to get pregnant to finally count as “something“?
But I no longer cared.
In a few days, I’d be leaving this Pack. There was no point in arguing over things that no longer held any meaning for me.
“Let the past stay in the past,” I said flatly. “I don’t want to discuss this anymore.”
“Aren’t you here to take me back? Let’s just
go.”

Not even the faintest smile crossed my face as I walked out the door.
As soon as we entered the Packhouse, Brianna’s sharp, taunting voice rang out, slicing through the air.
“Oh, Nadia, it’s been three years, and you haven’t changed one bit.”
I shot her a fierce glare, a silent warning to mind herself. Without another word, I turned and headed upstairs to gather the last of my belongings.
But Brianna’s next sentence brought me to an abrupt halt.
“Three years ago, it was me who drugged you. I told you to go to the bar and find him.”

My spine went rigid. Slowly, I turned to face her as she continued, completely unapologetic.
“I knew Roland loved me. But I was leaving, and who’s to say he wouldn’t fall for someone else in my absence? I knew you had feelings for him, so I thought, why not set a little trap?”
Her lips curled into a cruel smile.
“Roland…he’s such a responsible Alpha. If he ended up sleeping with you, he’d have no choice but to marry you. But after that little stunt I pulled, true love was never going to be on the table for you.”
She took a deliberate step closer, letting the strap of her dress slip off her shoulder.
Hickeys marred her exposed skin, each one

more glaring than the last.
“You took care of him for these past three years, and for that, I’m grateful. But now I’m back–so it’s time for you to go, Nadia.”
Her words dripped with triumphant malice.
“You have no one here in Rhoskar Pack, no allies, no support. Take my advice while you still can–leave before it’s too late.”
The revelation sent my wolf into an uncontrollable rage. In the depths of my mind, I could feel her trembling with fury. So this is what it all boiled down to? A premeditated scheme from the start.
Without hesitation, I raised my hand and struck her across the face. The sharp sound reverberated through the room.

I met her shocked gaze head–on, my voice steady and firm.
“As long as I’m still standing, you’ll always be the other woman, Brianna. Push me too far, and neither of us will come out of this unscathed.”
She froze, a hand pressed to her cheek as a seething anger replaced her shock. Just when she raised her arm to retaliate, Roland walked in.
Like clockwork, Brianna’s demeanor shifted. Her eyes glistened with unshed tears, her face softening into an expression of victimhood.
“Nadia, Alpha Roland and I are just friends! That night–it was all a misunderstanding! Please… don’t tell anyone!” she sobbed, and in the next instant–she dropped to her

knees, groveling like a martyr about to face the stake.
I was still processing the audacity of her performance when Roland stormed toward
- us.
He shoved me aside, and the force of it sent me sprawling onto the floor. My body, still weakened from the miscarriage, protested painfully at the sudden impact.
But Roland didn’t so much as glance at me.
Instead, he helped Brianna up, his gaze softening as if he were cradling something precious.
Then he turned to me, and the look in his eyes was a dagger to the heart–the hatred sharp and merciless, as if I were an invader trespassing on his territory.

“Nadia, you’re completely unreasonable! I’ve already explained everything–why can’t you just let it go?”
A fresh wave of tears stung my eyes, but I refused to let them fall. Instead, I bit down hard on my trembling lip. “You never even asked for my side of the story, Roland. Are you really so quick to believe her?”
For a moment, I thought I saw doubt flicker in his clenched jaw, his fist tightening as though wrestling with some inner conflict. But just as quickly, the moment passed.
“I only believe what I see,” he said coldly. “Apologize to Brianna. Swear you won’t harass her again.”
I scoffed, throwing my chin up defiantly. “I did nothing wrong. I won’t apologize for the

truth,” I said firmly. Then, I added, staring directly into his unyielding glare, “The only ones at fault here are the two of you.”
Any trace of guilt he might have felt
dissipated in an instant, swallowed up by his fury.
He loomed over me, his Alpha dominance permeating the space. “Nadia, you will admit your mistake.”
He barked an order, and within seconds, Pack sentinels burst into the room.
They seized me roughly, holding me in place.
“If you don’t apologize, Roland seethed, “I’ll subject you to Pack punishment. Ninety–nine lashes. You won’t survive it.”
He thought he could break me.

That he could bend me to his will.
But he underestimated me.
“Brianna deserved the slap–and I’ll never deny it. But I didn’t threaten her, I spat. “Alpha Roland, if you lay even a single hand on me, I swear on the Moon Goddess–you will regret it for the rest of your life.”
