Chapter 226
Moira looked up from her phone and said, “What is it?”
“I fell ill so suddenly, and I didn’t bring any change of clothes. The doctor said I need to stay in the hospital for observation for now, so could you help me go back and bring some clothes for her?”
Moira nodded “Sure.”
She stuffed her phone into her bag, took the keys from her mother, and got up to leave
Today was a weekday, and traffic wasnt too heavy at this time, so driving back and forth was quite c
convenient for het
Half an hour later, Moira returned. She knocked on the door first, and Jane came to open it. When Moira saw her mother’s eyes were red, she furrowed her brows and asked, “Mom, what happened to you?”
Jane took the bag of clothes from her daughter’s hand, her voice hoarse as she said. “Come in first, Page has something to say to you.”
As Moira entered the room, she immediately sensed the heavy armosphere that filled the hospital room.
Page waved her hand. “Moira, come here. I have something I want to talk to you about”
Moira nodded and walked over just as she was about to sit in the chair she had been in earlier, her mother stopped her. “Sat in my seat and have a good talk with Page.
Moira had no choice but to get up and sit in the other chair
Page looked at Moira’s face and thought of her son’s dejected appearance from yesterday. She then asked, “Moira, you and Virgd have been together for almost five months now. Don’t you think it’s time for you two to get married?”
Moira was taken aback.
She opened her mouth to speak, but Page interrupted her. “Moira, Virgil is already 28, and in a few months, he’ll be 25. Men at his age are already having children. I don’t have much time left. Can you just consider it and help me put my mind at ease?”
Moira’s heart tightened, and the words that were on the tip of her tongue were swallowed back. She asked with concern, Page, why are you saying that? You shouldn’t have any serious health issues, right?”
Jane answered her daughter on behalf of Page. The doctor said her cerebral infarction is already quite severe. If she falls unconscious again, she might not wake up.”
Jane took out a tissue and wiped her eyes, then sofily said, “Moira, you’re not young anymore. I think Virgil is a good man. I’d feel at ease knowing you’re with him. You two should go get married tomorrow.”
Moira was stunned.
“Yes, first get the certificate, and then we can choose a good time to have the wedding”
When Page mentioned her son’s marriage, a hint of a smile appeared on her face.
The atmosphere in the ward was no longer so stifling
Moira wanted to mention that she and Virgil had broken up, but seeing the hope in Page’s eyes and the joy on her mother’s face, the ultimately couldn’t bring herself to say it. Instead, she simply said, “Getting the certificate isn’t something I can do alone. Virgil might think it’s too rushed
Page quickly said, “I’ve already asked Virgil. He’s very willing to go with you to get the certificate?
Moira fell silent.
“Virgil is just a bit quiet and reserved, but he’s steady and has his own ideas. Yesterday, he personally came to the hospital to tell me that he really likregou and wants to marry you. So, I discussed it with your mom, and she also thinks Virgil is a good man. You two are of age now, Moira. What do you think of my suggestion?”
a bit stunned “Vir Virgil said he likes me?”
Page united and nodded 1 wouldn’t lie to you. These were Virgil’s own words. It’s the first time I’ve seen him care so much about a girl. I’ve introduced so many to lumn, but after one meeting, there was never anything more. But with you, it’s different. It’s only you. Moira, I promise you ince you marry Virgil, he’ll treat you well. Il he ever dares to mistreat you, just tell me, and I’ll make sure to teach him a lesson!TM
